Good hotel with everything one needs to enjoy all the delights of Siem Reap. The staff are very attentive and responsive. The gardens and pool are beautifully designed and rooms very good. The restaurant was a bit manic at breakfast time (it was a weekend) but for dinner there are hundreds of restaurants in the Old Village and much cheaper. Try riding in a local tuk tuk that will get you into the old village from the hotel for $2. The cultural show at the hotel in the evening is worth watching while enjoying a draft Angkor or Tiger beer.
A day at the Angkor Temples (Angkor Tom, Angkor Wat, Bayon etc) is a must although avoid weekends or national holidays unless with a guide who can get your entry pass without a lengthy bit of queuing. Tipping is endemic in Asia and Cambodia is no exception.
Overall a very enjoyable stay. I should mention that as golfers we played Angkor Lakes Golf Resort and the Angkor Golf Resort. One was designed by Nick Faldo and both were excellent if slightly expensive. We were told they are much better than the hotel course.

This 5 star hotel delivers in almost all areas. The hotel rooms are spacious with all the amenities. The staff is gracious and courteous, in typical Cambodian fashion. The food in the restaurants is average to above average. The staff a speaks English fairly well, but there is difficulty in communicating with the wait staff. They frequently brought some meals well before others so that diners ended up eating at different times. The bar was outstanding and quite comfortable.
The golf course was adequate but not up to North American standards.
Overall I would highly recommend this resort.

Our tour stayed at the Sofitel while in Siem Reap. It is at the north edge of town, so closer to Angkor. It is a lovely property with a central lake with lotus pads. The staff is friendly and responsive. Rooms are large is a little dark, from no overhead lights. The rooms on my floor are all outside rooms on the central garden. Breakfast has a wide variety of tasty choices. Internet is free. You get a password at the desk for "24 hours", which if you sign off when not using it results in 24 hours of service (not just a day). The evening buffet and Cultural show is spectacular and not to be missed.
