“Beautiful B&B and GREAT service!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2009

We had a great time at the Pitney house. It met all our expectations; beautiful house & rooms, very clean, great food and close to Atlantic City. Don, the owner was wonderful and very friendly! I think a great owner behind a B&B makes a stay much more enjoyable. Also, the train is literally a half block away, short 8 min. to Atlantic City and free buses to and from the train station in Atlantic City. It was great- no car needed!!

Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives at this B&B. My husband have stayed at several B&Bs in England and a few here in the US. The Pitney house was definitely below average and I would go so far as to say they are just scraping by.

The positive things were: there were antiques in the room, the pitney house did have some nice aspects (lovely floors and ceiling beams), there was a dehumidifier in the room so we could get white noise during the evening for sleeping, it was pretty clean and the roof didn't leak (in otherwords everything was functional).

The negative things were: pillowcases did not fit pillows, the bed sloped in the middle and the bed was terribly squeaky, the bathtub was uneven and jiggled (found yourself surfing in the middle of your shower), bathtub was hard to get in and out of, bathtub water valve controls were tricky to operate and if you were not careful, you scalded yourself, the bed comforter looked worn, the street was loud at times.

The breakfast was the worst breakfast I have ever had at a B&B. (Holiday Inn Express does a better job!) Breakfast was juice, cinnamon coffee, cinnamon-sugar muffin and cinnamon french toast with syrup and a fruit cup. Clearly, a low effort breakfast for the host. Everything had cinnamon in it, including the coffee, and was loaded with sugar. Good thing that neither of us were diabetics. Truly, I am sorry that I chose this place to stay. A real disappointment.

“Old world charm in a New Jersey B&B not far from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2009

We were familiar with the Tuckerton area & wanted to stay in a bed & breakfast for the Valentine's Day weekend and also visit the Tomasella Winery.Great Bed & Breakfast, and reasonably priced. Authentic antiques with turn of the century ambiance. A romantic get away, and arms throw away from Smithville & Atlantic City, Don Kelly (owner) has the most charming Irish Personality & made the weekend enjoyable. Makes a mean breakfast and knows the history of the house too. If you are short & rent the Victoria room be prepared for mountain climbing or bring a step stool to get into bed. A lovely room

“Wonderful !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2008

This is the second time that I have stayed at this B&B and all I can say is that it will be my first choice for accomodations when traveling to Atlantic City from now on. The Pitney House is a comfortable getaway from the chaos of the boardwalk and casinos and only about 10 minutes away. The rooms are cozy/clean/quiet and not commercial and noisy like the casinos. It is also a romantic stay as my previous visit was with my wife for a Valentine's getaway and we absolutely loved it. The owner is very friendly and seems to go out of his way to make it feel like a home away from home. Great customer service !!!

  • Liked — a great B&B for adults that is quiet and comfortable
  • Disliked — nothing
