“Best hotel in Santa Cruz!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2009

My father and I stumbled upon the Canciller after spending a night at the awful Hotel Viru Viru, a place in which you got electric shocks from the shower. The Canciller has an excellent location with lots of restaurants and services nearby. The hotel amenities are fantastic! Large bedrooms and bathrooms, great pool and sauna areas, an excellent breakfast buffet and restaurant, and two computers with Internet access. Also, the rooms are away from the street and therefore there is little noise. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's definitely worth the $50/night since you feel like you're in the lap of luxury! We had two wonderful stays there during our time in Bolivia and it was so great we plan on returning in August 2009.

“You can do better than this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2008

I went to this hotel and made a reservation for a couple days later after going to Copacabana. When I came back they couldn't find the reservation and the rate went from $35/night to over $50/night. Ended up staying at Hotel Lido right around the corner without any reservation $35 / night with breakfast. Therefore I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

“Practical spot in city center”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2007

Our room was quiet, good sized and clean. The hotel has little charm but is just a block and a half from Santa Cruz' main square.

The pool is inviting as Santa Cruz is hot this time of year.

Depending upon why one is in this city, the Canciller, is an option. The dining room is nothing special but it avoided our having to go out for dinner. Breakfast was fine.

“Nice Hotel, Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 February 2005
5
people found this review helpful

Nice Rooms with all the ammenities. We were given a 'group' discount and paid about 40 USD for a large room with two queen sized beds. The hotel was clean and secure, the staff was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was good... a lot of food. The location is good for tourists as you can walk just about anywhere in the city and if you prefer to catch a bus or cab it's both cheap and easy. The internet is painfully slow and you're better off trying an internet cafe- there are plenty nearby. All in all, it's one of the nicer hotels in Santa Cruz and if you don't mind spending the extra money the comfort of this hotel is well worth it.
