“Tourist Beware!”

This was our first visit to Bolivia and was our first hotel stay and the only bad experience we had in Bolivia. We arrived after a very long flight to be told they could not find our reservation. We sent two emails and called twice before our arrival. The confirmation I had received by email was not valid according to the staff and when my husband call he was told he did not need a confirmation they had his name. Of course now they had a room but it was more money than what was offered on-line and by the phone. It was very upsetting after a long flight to have to deal with staff that was not accomodating specially when it was obvious the hotel was not fully booked. And it was obvious why they wanted to go this route after reading the previous reviews. Is their way of getting more $$ which is a shame. We would not stay again and would not recommend this hotel.

The positive of the hotel is the location you can walk to all points of interest, and Santa Cruz was an excellent stop. There are other hotels within blocks that we are willing to try on our next trip. .

“Best hotel in Santa Cruz!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2009

My father and I stumbled upon the Canciller after spending a night at the awful Hotel Viru Viru, a place in which you got electric shocks from the shower. The Canciller has an excellent location with lots of restaurants and services nearby. The hotel amenities are fantastic! Large bedrooms and bathrooms, great pool and sauna areas, an excellent breakfast buffet and restaurant, and two computers with Internet access. Also, the rooms are away from the street and therefore there is little noise. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's definitely worth the $50/night since you feel like you're in the lap of luxury! We had two wonderful stays there during our time in Bolivia and it was so great we plan on returning in August 2009.

“You can do better than this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2008

I went to this hotel and made a reservation for a couple days later after going to Copacabana. When I came back they couldn't find the reservation and the rate went from $35/night to over $50/night. Ended up staying at Hotel Lido right around the corner without any reservation $35 / night with breakfast. Therefore I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
