A nice hotel to stay for business or pleasure- hotel is located right at the end of the boardwalk, with a lovely view of the sea. Free and fast wireless internet, a rarity in business hotels. I had great room service, but a colleague had her order mixed up and received squid ink pasta instead of abalone ravioli. Too bad- the ravioli was delicious! Excellent breakfast included in room cost- meats, cheeses, breads, fruit, tea, coffee and juices. Loved the afternoon chocolate and weather report for the next day- A very nice touch. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. Don't call taxis from the hotel- they are 10 times more expensive this way. The public transportion systems are cheap, easy, and safe. You can take the metro, a bus, or a collective taxi from Vina to Valparaiso for about $1 or $2, but if you call a taxi from the hotel, it will run you about $20!!! Other than that, a wonderful experience all around.

This hotel is very good. Just in front of the beach, next to many good restaurants, and 10minutes from the Casino... Me and my friends back to the Nightclub at the Casino walking at 4am, and was safe.
I really recommend this place.

The good part is that the towels were replaced twice a day and the location was very good.

But they did not listen and chaged me for an extra day. When I arrived (on a Saturday) I informed them I was leaving the next saturday (not sunday). I was told at registration that was fine. During the week I was there I talked to them about airport arrangements and return flight several times - no change in dates the same from the day I arrived. The last day they said my check out time was not changed and 72 hours notice was needed. They were told 72 hours ahead they did not do anything. I went to the manager and he said "I have no record". It was done to both my self and my colleague.

There was a lot of earthquake damage (even though I was told before leaving there was none). It was very noisy with repairs and I have pictures to show the badly damanged walls.

My wife and I were in Santiago for a wedding over Christmas, 2009. We decided to spend 3 nights in Vina afterwards. We saw this hotel advertised on line, but were not able to get a reservation since it was holiday season. Having checked in at the hotel we had reserved, we went out for a walk and came upon the San Martin. We walked in and inquired, and we were able to get a room for the 3 nights to follow. This hotel was wonderful! The location is perfect. We had a lovely, clean, well appointed room with a balcony facing the ocean. There are many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, and a nice boardwalk right on the ocean. About a 3 minute walk on the boardwalk are many crafty huts selling alot of inexpensive jewelry...which made my wife very happy. There are also lounge chairs and umbrellas available for daily rental at $4.00/day each. That was very convenient as we are beach lovers. The staff at the hotel was wonderful...very friendly and helpful. They could not havebeen nicer. Breakfast was delicious and included. The lobby was lovely and comfortable, and there was a small gym and internet access. The concierge was extremely helpful, and gave us beach towels each day. She gave us advise on how to get back to Santiago airport which was extremely easy and inexpensive (appx. $10/pp). Our travel agent in Philadelphia had suggested a private driver each way at $150 each way. We took a taxi to the bus station, and a very comfortable bus to Santiago, and another bus directly to the airport. All very simple, even with our luggage. All in all, our experience in Vina was wonderful. We would HIGHLY recommend the San Martin as a fabulous pace to stay in Vina del Mar. I suggest you call the hotel directly for a reservation instead of using a reservation service. It would have saved alot of time, and we would have gottrn a reservation easier.
