Try to find a hotel for under $150 (high season) / $100 (low season) in Dubai and you'll end up at some rather seedy establishments fit for the kind of men who just rolled in with a barrel of rum from many months on the high seas and the kind of women who . . . well, you get the point. Dar Al Sondos is not looking to compete with the likes of the Burj al Arab, The Address, Hyatt Regency or other $500+ / night establishments and people who rock up with expectations far in excess of what they have paid will be reality checked accordingly. However, in many, many more stays at DAS over the past few years than I can be bothered count at DAS, I have never had any real problems whatsoever. The rooms have been consistently clean, the furniture consistently modern, the front desk check-in and -out consistently efficient and courteous (even advising me to book on the Starwoods website in future so that I could save money on the room rate), and my experience consistently positive. There are no other hotels in Dubai that I can speak of that I can say that about (and I have stayed at a lot), which is why I keep returning. If you want to live the high life, look elsewhere, but if you want value for money, look no further.
