We came from a long SE-Asia trip, traveling with 2 Kids (4 and 1 year old). We have been in more than 18 hotels and this one had the best quality-price-luxury value.

Due to our duration of travel, we are a little on a budget. Had bad internet access when I booked and mistakendly booked a single room for one person. The reason was the good price.

We were upgraded for free into a 75 sqm appartment. Living-room, 2 baths, kitchen (incl. Washing-machine, pots and pans etc) and bedroom, overlooking the Emerates Mall which is 100m away. Behind it you can see the Burj Al Arab and to the right is Burj Kalifa. Great view.

Aircon blows a bit onto one face an the angle can not be adjusted.

TV is showes nothing special.

Good for children because of pool on roof. No shallow part though. Great view on Dubai! Also has Gym (open 09h00 to 21h00). Pool ist heated in Winter (gets quite cool at night, but the pool has very nice 34 °C!) A Jacousy is also there.

Reception-area is a bit small, but the staff is very nice. Has a ramp at entrance and no steps to go into room (good for pram or buggy)

Breakfast is interesting: Comes in a Pizza-box to your room and everything in it. Due to delivery from an external company there are no special wishes possible, but it changes every day.

You can cook your own. Big fridge is there. Carrfoure in the Mall has everything one can ask for at very reasonalble prices (Fruitjuce freshly pressed 25ml at 1,25 AED (=approx EUR 0,35!))

Takes approx 2 Minutes with Taxi to get to Burj Al Arab, where the public beaches (incl. free fresh-water shower) are. Go to far left or right of beach, because otherwise you are constantly in the middle of tourists on the beach, taking photos of Burj Al Arab.
Takes 2 Minutes by foot to go skiing (yes, this is where one can ski!)

About 2 Minutes to Wild Wadi Waterpark with Taxi
Taxi comes within 2 Minutes after call at reception.
Taxifare from Hotel to Airport ist at approx AED 60 (about EUR 12,-)

Internet costs extra at AED 30,- per day.

For the price we payed for this big appartment, we would go here again. The regular reck-rate though would overprice the room.

stayed with some friends in the one-bedroom apartment in an extra bed. initially there was a mix-up with the reservation, but it was satisfactorily resolved in a timely fashion (although slightly frustrating at first). the apartment was pretty big and looks modern. the extra bed wasn't uncomfortable and there were 2 bathrooms (nice strong shower). The shower gel/shampoo smells "manly". the kitchen seems to have everything and the breakfast included was decent (come in a pizza box and delivered to the room: varies a bit from day to day). the only room available was on the 1st floor so could hear cars stopping by the main entrance and there was construction out front but it's not overly noisy. I imagine it's probably quieter in the bedroom.

it takes about 8 minutes to walk to the Mall of the Emirates, which has a Carrefour supermarket inside as well as lots of restaurants/food court. you can see Ski Dubai from the room. you can walk through the mall to get to the metro. the location is not as lively as Deira but the area feels newer, quieter, and nicer. You can pretty easily get a taxi out front. To get to Deira, I would recommend taking the metro closer in that direction--it's probably cheaper/faster.

One thing great about the location was that during the Burj Khalifa fireworks on New Year's Eve, the traffic jam down Sheik Zayed Road in the other direction was endless. It was much easier to get back to this side of the city.

Our first stay at Dunes was a year ago and everything was great so hence the return visit . The 2 bed apartment was very grimy . Dirt in all the corners, under sofas and when I lifted a carpet the floor was filthy . with two crawling infants this was not ideal . despite asking our apartment was not serviced during our 3 night stay and we ended up removing our own garbage !!! Pool was nice and clean and the place is cheap and well located.I'd go again if they get the maids scrubbing !

I have lived in this hotel for the last year because of its good value for money and proximity to the Mall of the Emirates.
during the whole of my stay the staff were of the highest order from cleaners to housekeepers to gym staff to maintenance and to management.they were never anything but caring, helpfull and courteous at all times.a pleasure to deal with.
I have left just to go a bit more upmarket and for no other reason.
A great place with great staff.
