“Zen Namkhan - Highlight of our Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We enjoyed a wonderful and peaceful three days at the Zen Namkhan overlooking the
Zen Namkhan River 15 km Luang Prabang. Rooms were lovely, ours had a large vaulted ceiling and indoor/outdoor shower with porch on which to relax and enjoy the sunsets and activity on the river below. Although we would have liked a bit more hot water, it was
just an outstanding stay. Our three daughters, 17, 13, and 11 loved the setting as well.
We enjoyed that it was a quick hike to the elephant village and a short boat ride to the waterfalls. Wished our stay was a bit longer.

Moon, the manager could not have been more helpful and hospitable. This is a peaceful
place, and a nice spot to enjoy the countryside after our stay in town in Luang Prabang.
Most definitely a highlight on our three week journey.

Room Tip: We booked a wonderful family room with a queen and separate couch/twin. It was a very large room wi...

The surroundings were spectaculare. The staff was nice and serviceminded, and served good food. The house we stayed in lacked ventilation wich disturbed us, and was a shame on the newbuilt pretty house.

“Heaven on Earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

A more beautiful and relaxing place is hard to imagine. The service from the greeting at the airport to the delivery back was flawless. The ambience is cleverly thought out and the food beautifully presented. Very clean and well run. Khamsaen ( concierge) guided us through mos of the menu during the six days we spent in this most restful of places. The enviromental pool which forms part of the vista overlooking the river is beautifully positioned. Large trees hang over giving some shaded areas and tiny fish swim with you. The bar had a good variety of world wines and reasonably priced. Meals were well presented, lots of table service, fresh and declicous. Some very interesting Asian dishes prepared in a very clean kitchen. Rooms are huge with stunning views down to the river and cleverly appointed in a colonial style. The spa and massage building hidden in the jungle down by the river worked well

Room Tip: All rooms have stunning views and are very similar to my knowledge

Zen Namkhan Boutique resort was very nice. calm and quiet natural place.
We have been there for 2 weeks. We have been very happy with the management and service.
Everyone was very helpfull. it is 15 km from Liang Prabang but you can go to waterfalls and elephants camp or kayaking by the Namkhan river.
We thanks a lot Moon and Khamsand for the beautiful stay.

“A healing experience in a serene environment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

Zen Namkhan Boutique Resort was perfect. From the very first encounter with the charming and gently attentive staff, who offered a delicious fresh welcome drink and a warm smile, through the delightful surprise of finding a natural pool equipped with little fish, to the walk through the tropical gardens to the cool, breezy villa overlooking the lazily flowing river, all was as it should be. I loved the gentleness of the ambience, the calm quiet of the jungle surrounding us, the morning birdsong, and most of all the friendliness and genuine care for our comfort shown by our hosts Luc and Moon and their extremely efficient concierge Khamsaen. The room was very comfortable, with a verandah overlooking the jungle and the river equipped with chairs and plenty of cushions. It was a perfect place to spend a restful hour before evening drinks at the bar in the central meeting area, which was open on all sides to the gardens, and cooled by slowly moving ceiling fans. The food, again served in the central area, was delicious, every meal, whether western or Lao, a triumph, the kitchen being supervised by Moon who, apart from being an excellent organiser and a charming host, is an accomplished cook! Activities at the resort can be as active or as relaxed as you like. The staff cheerfully arrange for us a trip to the local waterfall, an elephant ride in the jungle, and visits to local weaving workshops. My stay was crowned by a massage at the resort's Japanese-style bath house, followed by Japanese tea served in a tiny cup beside a gently tricking waterfall, an experience that left me floating and perfectly at peace with the world. I came away from Zhen Namkhan relaxed, refreshed, and determined to go back.
