A few very positive aspects but several significant negatives I would have wanted to know. First the positives: truly lovely pool and view of the Mekong river; bikes to use to ride into town; spacious bedroom; nice breakfast; great local market nearby; nice staff; local monks get alms right in the village which was interesting and no other tourists around. Problems: this hotel is off a main road and you walk down a dark dirt road in a dirty village with lots if garbage and dogs - yes it gives you a sense of life in Laos but there were so many dogs barking and fighting right behind my bedroom at night that we could not sleep much at all - truly like living behind a kennel. The hotel is a 15 min bike ride into main part of town or a few dollar per person tuk tuk ride which adds up. I would have rather been closer to town. Nothing to eat at all near the hotel which has no restaurant and room has no kitchen. We stayed in the two bedrom villa which was really two bedrooms seperated by a hot unairconditioned large room that really could not be used. Consequently it was not really a family apartment but two seperate bedrooms which was not how it appeared. Overall mediocre value and major sleep issues that should not exist at this price.
