“Clean & Tidy and close to Old Walled Town”

We stayed in Hotel Lero during May 2011. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast menu was able to cater for all our needs. Hotel staff were friendly. Bus stop located outside front door provided easy access to all parts of Dubrovnik. The downhill walk to the old town was easy just 10 -15 mins.

Room Tip: Our room looked out over the Adriatic Sea.

“Should be rated at least 4*”

Due to a booking error by our travel agent, we had to have our room changed on arrival which was late at night, during shift changeover. The guy who took over was fantastic and went out of his way to ensure the new room was at least the same standard as our initial booking.

The restaurant staff at breakfast were pleasant too, but unfortunately, there was one woman on reception who was more interested in playing computer games than helping guests.

Our room was in the rear block, very clean and spacious, with a window which could be opened to let in fresh air which was fantastic, and had a pleasant outlook. The TV had an inbuilt clock which we really appreciated – it sounds silly but this was the only hotel we stayed at in our 4 week European holiday which had a clock in the room! The room also had a fully stocked mini-bar – the bottles of still water were the same price as you would pay out of the hotel which was great. I would definitely rate this hotel higher than 3 stars.

While the hotel is outside the old town, it was a very pleasant 15 minute walk along the coast. The walk into town is downhill and, if it was too hot or you were tired, it was a short 10kuna bus ride back uphill. The benefit of staying out of town is the free parking – we did try driving into town on our first morning and it was impossible to find parking (this being late October). Leave the car at the hotel and walk or take the bus.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Lero and Dubrovnik and would have no hesitation in recommending it. We also recommend Taj Mahal in the old town for dinner – it serves amazing Bosnian food.

Finally, there are two laundromats on the same block as the hotel towards the old town. The first one you walk past is full service which is a bit pricey but a really nice treat while you are on holidays. She did a great job and it was easy to carry to and from the hotel.

old room but with a good restaurant and razoable breakfast, the price at autumn is ok, but not cheap, free parking, when you see the reception you wait much more by the room, but the rooms are old and need a new style.

“Best 3 Star Hotel Ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

We spent 3 nights at this hotel and really enjoyed our stay. We did have a superior room, so our comments are based on this room. It was very modern and spacious and we really enjoyed our little balcony on returning to the hotel in the late afternoon. Breakfast has a lot of variety, but the food is buffet-style and average quality. We would recommend dinner at the Madgellan restaurant, about a block away. Food is excellent and prices reasonable.
We enjoyed walking to the Old Town, but took the bus back as it's all uphill on the return. We also walked the other direction to the marina and as the weather was beautiful, we really enjoyed our walks in the city.

“Reasonable chioce if you don't have a car”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

For a 3 star hotel, Lero is offering very good, clean and comfortable choice.
The value, however doesn't justify the price, if you don't mind staying a bit further from the Old Town and drive there, or take a bus.
The walk to the Old Town is more than 15 minutes, unless you are an Olympic athlete. Part of the road leaves a very narrow path for pedestrians and you need to go on the traffic lane from time to time to let through people walking in the opposite direction. Walking back after a good meal and couple of bears in your stomach is a sweaty uphill effort.
The good news is the bus leaving every 15 minutes from a station near the hotel to the Old Town gate and back.
To summarize; if you have a car, save money and get an apartment out of town. If you don't Lero is a good choice.
