Due to a booking error by our travel agent, we had to have our room changed on arrival which was late at night, during shift changeover. The guy who took over was fantastic and went out of his way to ensure the new room was at least the same standard as our initial booking.
The restaurant staff at breakfast were pleasant too, but unfortunately, there was one woman on reception who was more interested in playing computer games than helping guests.
Our room was in the rear block, very clean and spacious, with a window which could be opened to let in fresh air which was fantastic, and had a pleasant outlook. The TV had an inbuilt clock which we really appreciated – it sounds silly but this was the only hotel we stayed at in our 4 week European holiday which had a clock in the room! The room also had a fully stocked mini-bar – the bottles of still water were the same price as you would pay out of the hotel which was great. I would definitely rate this hotel higher than 3 stars.
While the hotel is outside the old town, it was a very pleasant 15 minute walk along the coast. The walk into town is downhill and, if it was too hot or you were tired, it was a short 10kuna bus ride back uphill. The benefit of staying out of town is the free parking – we did try driving into town on our first morning and it was impossible to find parking (this being late October). Leave the car at the hotel and walk or take the bus.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Lero and Dubrovnik and would have no hesitation in recommending it. We also recommend Taj Mahal in the old town for dinner – it serves amazing Bosnian food.
Finally, there are two laundromats on the same block as the hotel towards the old town. The first one you walk past is full service which is a bit pricey but a really nice treat while you are on holidays. She did a great job and it was easy to carry to and from the hotel.
