The hotel is included inside a kind of complex of diferent hotels, outside the heart of Dubrovnik. However, it is well conected by bus, only 15 min away. I think the most valuable are the views over the bay, amanzing!!! Food is Ok, buffet style, and the pool is also superb. Good choice for your trip

Not a fine dining experience, very much due to the ambience in the dining room. Hotel is big, catering for tour groups, being several miles from Dubrovnik old town, most eat in hotel. If terrace is not useable because of weather the dining room becomes a scramble for seats. Noise levels can be uncomfortable. Food is OK, especially fish which is fried in front of you, but everything else is buffet. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful but service elsewhere does not stand out.

There are some positive points to make about this hotel but I don't want to dwell on them here. I think the point so critical reviews is to aid potential guests and to give useful feedback to the hotel. Those feedback forms you leave in the room aren't much use, are they?

I see a few problems that face the owners and management of the Argosy. Firstly, it definitely has the make of "former communist country" about it. The hotel is manufactured out of monolithic concrete, then painted, not pretty. I'm not sure what they can do about this, apart from knock it down and start again. Dubrovnik is a fabulous tourist magnet and there is a great tourism opportunity but maybe you will have to knock the hotel down and rebuild. Did I say that before? The Babin Kuk peninsula is an extremely pleasant place but the hotels don't make the best of it. There's a commercial area with some shops, bars, restaurants but how sadly run down it is. Please knock this bit down first.

First impressions are important. You walk into the room and what do you see? A huge cathode ray tube. Quite frankly, no decent hotel has those any more.

Thank you to the people who work there who really do try very hard to make people have a pleasant stay. Croatian people are very pleasant from my own experiences.

By the way, knock the hotel down and rebuild.

Do a few business calculations and you might find the potential returns are great if you start all over again.

OK, one day you are going to have to knock it down and so you may as well do it sooner rather than later.

We stayed at the Argosy for 4 nights in early September with Rivera. The hotel is located on the Babin Kuk headland with lovely views and away from the noise and hassle of Dubrovnik old town. The hotel is large, but very spacious so you never feel crowded. Pool area well kept and free towels. Loads of choice in the restaurant, cooking in front of you. The only thing I would have added would have been some gravy or sauce you could put on the roast meat if you wished. Otherwise, staff all very friendly and helpful - we could not have asked for more. P.S. The air condition was brilliant in the 38 degree heatwave!
