“Villa Borna, privacy? no thanks..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2010

The flat is decent and not wonderful. The price is, definitely, too high for the standard offered by Villa Borna.
At the beginning the owner seemed nice and kind, then he started to control everything, he went several times into the room when we were out to check that everything was ok.
I felt to have no more privacy and for that price it’s something just unacceptable.
Wifi connection does not work in the room, you have to go outside and sit on the stairs to get the signal, it costs 4 euro per night (another non competitive price).
If you want to waste money and loose your privacy the best place for you is..VILLA BORNA!

“Lovely apartments - great pool!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2010

Three of us stayed in a studio apartment at Villa Borna for 5 nights.

Martin and his wife are great hosts - very friendly, helpful and Martin is always up for a story and a laugh!

The apartments are spotless and brand new. The pool and terrace areas are lovely. 3 mins walk from a supermarket, 5 mins from a swimming area, 10 mins walk from Copocabana beach along the water.

It's about a 45 minute walk into the Old Town but it's a nice walk and we did it nearly every day. If you can't be bothered going that far there are great little restaurants and bars along the marina 10 mins walk away. We didn;t take any buses but it looked like there was one that went very close to the apartments right into the Old Town.

Our studio wasn't huge for 3 people but it was a really reasonable rate so we were very happy. The large terraces, pool etc mean you're not inside much anyway! We happily cooked dinner at home one night and had plenty of room to relax.

Overall a lovely spot and would definitely recommend if you're looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing at a good price.

“Very comfortable and clean, beautiful swimming pool and close to a beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2010

Myself and two girlfriends just spent 5 nights at Villa Borna. We shared a room with 3 beds with a kitchen and good sized bathroom. Even though we were 3 in a room there was still ample space and each apartment has shared outdoor space with chairs and table. The swimming area is lovely, the pool is well kept and is bathed in sunshine all day. Security, although there is no need to worry there, is good with keys to get in the complex and in your room. There is a well stocked supermarket with very friendly, english speaking staff only a few minutes walk away. The only downside is the distance from the old town but we did know this before we booked and it was actually quite nice to walk off the spoils of a holiday with the 40 min each way walk. Cabs are cheap though and easy to find. Our linen and towels were changed once whilst we were there which was enough and the hosts, Martin and his wife, are very accommodating and helpful. There is a rocky beach a short walk from the villa which has water sports hire and a few bars which is really nice to chill away from any crowds. Would stay again if I was back in Dubrovnik and highly recommend.

“Lovely apartment and good value visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

We stayed for 1 week in apartment 2 - a studio with a double bed and two smaller beds for our 2 young children - sounds crowded but it was fine, especially as we ate at our patio table outside. The pool was good - bigger than it looks in the pictures - about 8 metres I would say, so great for play and cooling down. The owner was friendly and yes, you do pay for laundry as another review has mentioned but this was made clear to us and, as washing was returned the next day dry and nicely folded, it was 6 euros well spent! Lapad is great - some nice restaurents on the pedestarian street about 10-15 mins walk away and hence offers much better value for money than Dubrovnik old town.
