“Comfortable convenience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I stayed here twice, last June with my husband, and in January this year, solo. It is the most comfortable hotel at an extremely convenient location, just a couple of minutes away by car from Pleso (ZGB Airport). Easily accessible by car, Aristos could serve as a quiet retreat after visiting the Croatian capitol.

This is a modern building, with soundproof rooms, so important for a good night's sleep. The aircondition functioned perfectly at summer, and heating just as efficient in January. Clean, comfortable rooms and beds; internet by cable, included in the price. Young staff, courteous, extremely service minded.

Excellent restaurant; impressive breakfast buffet (for Croatian standards). Home-made bread and jam. Amazing. I have allergies, and eating out is difficult. The staff were very attentive; last June I had a slight reaction to something (due to tiredness), and was brought dinner by the room service later on. The meal was truly impressive, both the quality of food and the attention to detail by the kitchen staff.

The place is efficient, and although I haven't had the time to use the wellness facilities, I should imagine they are good too. Definitely a place I will use in future, whenever I travel by Zagreb.

“Good for overnight stay prior to departure”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We stayed in Zagreb twice during our road trip around Croatia. Upon arrival, we preferred President Pantovcak (see separate review), which was more convenient for exploring the city.

LOCATION

Aristos was the last-minute choice, when, due to business commitments, my initial plans of getting to Croatia by car from Ukraine changed to an air travel to and from Austria. So all we needed was an overnight stay somewhere close to the airport as, having already explored Zagreb, we weren’t too keen to drive back to the city.

For these purposes, Aristos was an ideal solution - the city map clearly showed it was almost in the suburbs of Zagreb, conveniently located by the highway connecting Zagreb airport and the city, in a very short drive to the airport.

BOOKING AND ROOM

Booked deluxe double room through booking.com to only discover upon arrival that their description was a bit different from the reality. I even had to double-check with the reception if that was the right room. It looked much smaller than claimed and had two single beds moved together instead of one king-size bed.

Apart from that, the room was quite pleasant and comfortable. It had no frills, no sophistication, or stylish gimmicks, but was what could be called a typical modern business hotel room.

The very same about the bathroom - it lacked any wow-factors, but was what you would expect from a decent bathroom.

I found climate control a bit of a problem. It was too hot to sleep at night without an AC on (and I’m hesitant to turn an AC overnight), while with the windows open the noise from the nearby highway was too disturbing.

Just like in great many other Croatian hotels, there was no WiFi in the room, LAN connection only (so bring adapters for Mac). Free WiFi was available in the reception area and in the lounge by the reception. They cook very decent BlackForrest pancakes in this lounge, by the way.

RESTAURANT

Breakfast was included into the room rate, but we also tried the restaurant for dinner. There were many typical Croatian meals in the menu, and some Croatian wines in the list. Food was okay, but nothing special; by that time we were spoilt by better restaurants we’ve been to around Croatia.

Breakfast was disappointing. Compared to other Croatia hotels we stayed in, the assortment was rather limited, and I was surprised to have smelled some non-fresh ingredients (say, Orange juice got hard).

FACILITIES

There was no info available in the room on the hotel's spa services, so I had to get to the spa centre to learn about them. However, there was nothing I was tempted to try, so can’t say anything about their quality. There’s no pool in the hotel, but they have a fitness room.

PARKING

Free garage parking, which had to be booked in advance, was a benefit. There was an elevator from the garage up to the reception.

RECOMMENDED?

If you are in Zagreb for sightseeing, and especially if you don’t have a car, this is hardly your top choice for location. The hotel is too far from downtown. But this is a very good choice to stay close to the airport - it has everything you would expect from a hotel for one night prior to departure.

P.S. There is a gas station on your way from the hotel to the airport, where you can fill in the tank if you are dropping your rented car off in the airport.

“New Year's Eve 2012”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Just perfect. We took the offered New Year's pack and have not regretted. Delux room was excellent - spacious, clean and comfortable. Dinner we got into the room was excellent. It was more than enough food and desserts. Breakfast was also excellent - rich buffet.
The beds are excellent, as everything else. Jacuzzi and sauna in the Spa & Wellness Center have been very good.

The hotel has a garage where we left the car, which is locked between 11 PM and 6 AM.

The staff is very courteous, friendly, helpful and professional.

I recommend this hotel definitely to everyone.

“ZAGABRIA IS GREAT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

A great hotel not in the centre of the town but near the fair and the highway to Slovenia. I and my family stay there for two years and we find it a very excellent hotel.
The room service is very good, the breakfast rich and fresh and the restaurant is always open till 11 p.m. every day. The hotel has a park outside and another closed with no charge. I this hotel you can also stay with your dog with a little charge for day. The rooms are large and clean. Zagreb is also a interesting and ancient city ...........

“Excellent Airport Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

We arrived after midnight into Zagreb airport and this hotel was the perfect choice for us because it was very close (5 minute car ride) from the airport.

The hotel also pre-arranges transportation (100HRK) to the hotel which was very convenient as there was a man waiting for us with a sign after we went through immigration/customs and we didn't have to fuss with getting cash from the ATM (although there is on in the airport) because the transfer was pre-paid with our room rate at the hotel.

The hotel is new (2009), clean and has a nice breakfast spread which is included in the economical room rate.

While this hotel is not ideal for exploring Zagreb, it is the perfect choice when arriving from a night flight as it is one of the nicest airport hotels we have staid in and was the perfect launching point to start our tourism the next morning after being fully rested.

This hotel was the closest we saw to the airport as there seemed to be nothing around the airport (not even a gas station or fast food) and there isn't any train transport to the town.

This hotel is much nicer/newer than the hotels in Plitvice Lakes National Park and we were very happy with our choice to spend the night here and then get an 8am start for the drive (1hr 35 minutes with our private driver) to the National Park versus staying in one of the hotels there.

We were very happy and would stay here again.
