“Very good, central hotel. Clean, with decent breakfast.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Stayed here three nights in Feb 2012. Hotel front desk fluent in English and German. Very central hotel, with outstanding bakeries and sausage stands within extremely easy walking distance. The hotel is a very wee bit aged, but clean and well maintained. The free internet is VERY welcome. Breakfast was probably the weak point. Plenty of decent food, but aside from the bread, it was not fabulous.

“Just OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

The hotel, like much of Zagreb, is just OK. It could use with a major upgrade and a good cleaning. Completely full with elderly American tour participants which made the service in the restaurant really really slow. And then I ended up getting sick from the meal. The path to our room required three flights of stairs, both up and down, and an elevator ride. Not super convenient with a bunch of luggage. We were only in Zagreb as an overnight stop and the location of the hotel made this very convenient but I wouldn't have wanted to stay here for any length of time.

“Perfect start to the break”

Superbly located overlooking the park and easy to reach from the bus station by tram as the stop is immediately opposite the hotel. This is a traditional establishment in which facilities such as the lifts have had to be fitted around the infrastructure, which does make them somewhat small for accommodating residents plus their luggage. Otherwise, this is a very comfortable establishment with helpful staff. The rooms are very comfortable - although the legacy of smokers was faintly discernible in the furnishings despite the latter zero tolerance prevailing - if a little on the small side. We dined at the restaurant and enjoyed excellent service and information from the; waiting staff (the dessert selection is worth stinting oneself on the first course!!) Breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable and sustaining: a pleasure to dine!

Room Tip: Perhaps away from eastern side of rooms as, although views of park were excellent, some visitors may...

“Palace Hotel, Zagreb, Croatia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Hotel staff was absolutely the best. Friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable of things to do, places to go, restaurants, etc. The breakfast buffet at the Place is by far the best breakfast buffet I've ever experienced at any hotel I've ever stayed at. That would include the Embassy Suites', which is top drawer itself. But the Palace is a notch better. The usual faire; i.e., bacon sausages, scrambled eggs, omelets, rolls, pastries, coffee and nine different types of tea, and service that is simply extraordinary. One added offering for breakfast ... their STRUKLI .... an absolute to die for breakfast treat. Or "anytime" treat for that matter. I cannot say enough about this hotel. The only, and I mean the only drawback was when I checked out ... I was charged with a phone bill on the room's land line that was somewhat hefty .... significant because I did not once use the room's phone other than to order room service, etc. But overall .... I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I was to be in Zagreb, Croatia.

“I always feel comfortable”

I have to stay in Zagreb about once in a month and I know a couple of high standard Hotels there. I prefer the Palace. The rooms are a little small but they are clean, refurbished and have everything you need. Beside a wide choice of cakes, cereals, breads, croissants and some warm stuff, they also offer a variety of Croatian hams and cheeses for breakfast. The price is ok consodering that Zagreb is generally an expensive place, what most people don't expect.
Even when I don't stay in hotel Palace, I go at least to the bar and have a drink, because I simply like the atmosphere.
