We ate here early on a cold Wednesday night but were impressed with the simple but delicious Croatian food and the friendly service. The daily specials are great value.

Couple of years ago this was my favorite restaurant but then something changed... no more heavenly pate for starters, the offer remained the same but the taste left...before it tasted like home...

Good lunch specials. Wait staff doesn't speak English, so wasn't able to really understand what was available from the menu. Selections we made were excellent. Nice spot for a weekend lunch.

This lovely restaurant is located on the street that leads from the main street, Ulica, up to the Upper town. Excellent location, but not swamped with tourists. I took a Croatian friend there who had not tried it before and she too was impressed.

The Pasticada was the best I had eaten in Croatia. A slow-cooked beef or veal stew, both savory and slightly sweet because of the addition of prunes. Served, as is tradtitional, with homemade gnocchi which was as light as air. My companions ate excellent Viennese-style schnitzel (you can order either veal or pork) served with warm potato salad. Their wine list also includes some excellent bottles: even their house wine is excellent.

I stopped by there for a Sunday lunch one day because I saw an elderly, elegant gentleman eating by himself. If it's good enough for him, I said to myself, it must be good enough for me. And he and I were both right. Bravo to the chef, the owners and the servers!
