My partner and I stayed at Ilicki Plac last year and had the most wonderful time.

It was summer in Zagreb and the whole capital came alive in the evenings for us as we sat out and enjoyed this great city and its hospitable people. (even though they never let us go home and insisted that we sit and drink with them till all hours of the morning).

Lucky our hosts were the type of people that understood how special it is to enjoy a taste of the real city rather than a package holiday where you are bus about like cattle in some sterile hotel.

Rooms were lovely and clean, cute and genuine, and the service and value fantastic. And you don't get a better location.

Thank you for having us at your hotel and for giving us a shared experience we will not forget. Sleep Quality was comparable to the level of Rakia we drank.

I have stayed Ilicki Place at least 10 times since 2007 when I facilitate weekend seminars in Zagreb. The rooms are pleasant and clean with good natuarl light and plenty of space for one person. The location is one of my favorites in Zagreb. There is a wonderful market just outside and plenty of cafe's nearby. The owners are friendly and welcoming. The location is central but not exposed to noisy night life which can be disturbing in the very centre of Zagreb.

I supposed to stay for 2 nights in illicki Place on 30 & 31 March 08 but the moment i enter the room, i already feel want to move to other place. The room only looks nice from the internet picture.
It is small double room with a very tiny shower room, i can see that the room original structure is without shower room and the shower is purposely build in for rental purpose. It looks kind of wiered and makes the shower room very limited space and the light is not bright enough. It is noisy when the morning market start, the curtain certainly does not cover the noise or sunlight.
The hallway to the room is fill of one kind of food smell that you cant feel any fresh air. It certainly does not worth for Euro 60 per night for room charge only.
I'm falsing myself to stay a night and then move to another place on the next day. I'm happy with my second accomodation choice.
Will definately not return to illicki Place again.

Stayed at Ilicki Place for 5 nights rather than 7 as planned.

We had booked a double room (with a large bed) seating area and shower room and on arrival were told that our room had been given away to someone else but would be available 2 nights before departure... So not a great start. We ended up in the room used by reviewer DanielTO, with twin beds on either side of the room (we are a married couple who very much enjoy each other's company!), no seating area. I felt like a kid who was being punished and sent to her room where I had nothing much to do apart from sit on the bed but let's not get personal here!

The room was very clean and it's just as well as we had to clear up and make our own beds ourselves. Towels had a faint aroma of cigarette and had been nowhere near any fabric conditioner which is great if you want a good scratchy rub. The small shower room we had was adequate but with only one dim light bulb when there could have been two others. Plenty of hot water.

We had a kettle to make hot drinks (nothing to wash or dishes with) and a fridge.

There was only one bedside lamp - one of the beds had a hugely bright light on the wall above it but it gave so much light that the other person would be disturbed if you had it on.

The white curtains which looked pretty in the day time did nothing to hide the light coming in from a lampost outside the window and obviously nothing to hide the morning sunshine so if you need a dark room to sleep in - possibly not the best place for you.

The lady who I presume was the owner was friendly enough but then again, she would be charging us for a large room and giving us a small one...

Location wise, it was very good, the market on the square was lovely and the market traders very quiet. However, I personally cannot really recommend this establishment due to the room allocation, and the type of service during our stay (non existent).
