The Hotel Hecco Deluxe is located about 4-5 blocks from the fun Old Town area of Sarajevo. The hotel has incredible views of the city. I read some previous reviews which said the housekeeping was poor, but i have not found this to be true, it seems clean enough and they have changed linens every day. The hotel staff has been very kind and helpful. The restaruant serves breakfast every morning, and alhouthg it is not a huge buffet, it is more than adequate. It is true that the breakfast area is not well staffed, so you had better hope the coffee carafe is not empty when you get there! That being said, the view makes it all worthwhile. It is worth mentioning again that there are no stairs to go up to the rooms. You take an elevator up to the 9th floor, where the reception is located. But after that, you will have to take the stairs up. The staff did offer to carry our bags up for us, though.
The trip from the airport by taxi was about 20 USD. This was the expensive price--there are two kinds of taxis, the "official" ones which cost more. Then there are the "yellow" taxis which are the unofficial, but I am assured by the locals to be very safe, taxis that cost much, much less. At the airport you would have to call one of the local taxis, as I believe the only taxis allowed there to wait for passengers are the official ones.
Overall, I am going to have to put this on my list as one of the coolest hotels I have ever stayed at, due to the gorgeous view and modern decor. Frankly it seems a little expensive, but I guess you pay for the convenient downtown location.
