“Quality diving .. amazing Dive Masters.... awesome setting”

We were collected at 7.30 from the hotel about 1 hour from Scuba Bula by a quiet spoken local who drove us carefully to Scuba Bula..
Upon arrival it looked like a deserted resort, but walk towards the dive centre and there we found Adam, Sam, Appi and others. Our experience was of very calm serene people, instructing and guiding us in a very methodical manner. Two of us did the PADI discovery dive course. I was apprehensive about diving, but with Sam as our Dive master, never once was I concerned for our safety.

We had my daughter with us who was injured and unable to dive, so in between the dives, Appi took her for a snorkel and showed her the delights of the reef from the top.

This was an all day trip and we were taken back to our resort when we were ready, arriving back about 5.00 pm. A full day with everyone asleep for the journey back.

Take your own towel, everything else is provided that you may need. Fresh Pineapple and coconut to eat in rest breaks, along with coffee and tea.

We stayed and had lunch in the cafe at the resort where Scuba Bula is situated. The prices were good and the food honest and simple. A nice change to the resort where we were staying.

We would recommend this to anyone who loves diving. Do not expect luxury and opulence, but expect great people and quality diving.

The only thing that was a bit off putting was when we arrived people were smoking, and as we are non-smokers this was a bit uncomfortable for us. The smoking quickly stopped and we were made to feel very at ease.

“Outstanding collection of hard corals, shoals of snappers”

I have dived many places in Fiji and am qualified to write a review for this dive centre. The outstanding features were: 1. Moorings for ascent/descent at most dives: Ideal for divers who require more time in equalising. 2. Dive guides: They don't compromise on safety constantly reminding you to check your air pressure. I felt safe diving with Api, their guide. 3. Hard coral collection: Because the Navula barrier reef is not as touristy as those in the Mamanuca group, the hard corals were close to pristine in many of the dive spots. 4. Shoals of snappers: I have never seen such a big school of snappers, not even in PNG. 5. Safety of dive gear: They took care of my dive gear and nothing was damaged. 6. Reasonable pricing: no minimum number of divers, FJ$820 for 10 dives and no fuel surcharge. 7. Topography of dive sites: There were canyons, fissures and swim-throughs. South Reef topography is different from North Reef but also more currents. The interesting topography is great for wide angle photography especially facing the sun. 8. Decent collection of soft corals. Because the dive sites are more sheltered, it allows opportunities for practising macro shots of these soft corals.

“Top notch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

I did five days of diving with Scuba Bula and have to say that I was very happy with my choice. I needed to stay close to Nadi and the diving with Scuba Bula out of Momi Bay did not disappoint.

The dive shop is efficiently run and all of the team are friendly and fun to be around. The British owners are passionate about diving and truly care about the dive sites and the area. The local guides are exceptional and highly experienced.

The dive boat leaves at 9am every morning. Two dives per day at this time of the year due to wind picking up out on the reef in the afternoons. Surface interval is on the boat with a cup of tea or coffee and some pineapple or coconut. The time goes quick on the boat as there is almost always something happening on top of the water. One day we played with the dolphins, one day collected half a surf board from the sea, and another day just watched the game fish jumping.

I normally like to do more than two dives per day but the location at Seashell@Momi Resort lends itself to just relaxing in the afternoons.

Rental gear was all top notch and the dive center team was more than happy to let me try out some setups that I dont normally use. They had Wing set ups available, open heel and fullfoot fins, etc. I always take my own mask and wetsuit so cant vouch for those. Regulators and BCD are top quality.

The guides always guarantee coral and fish but luckily we also saw plenty of sharks, turtles, schooling snapper and some Spanish mackerel. There was even a sea horse spotted on the walk back from the boat.

The standout for me was the vis with most dives being 30M plus. On the first day it may have even been as much as 40M. The water was the bluest I have seen to date and topography under the water was spectacular with plenty of overhangs and swim throughs. Visually, it was stunning. Water temp was a comfy 28 degrees.

Overall, a very happy experience for me that I will definitely be trying to repeat.

“great place to learn to scuba dive...and to dive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2010

We recently spent 2 weeks in Momi, Fiji and went scuba diving with Scuba Bula. Pierre took the open water course, a major challenge for someone not comfortable in the water. Scuba Bula's very patient, individual approach to learning scuba diving was very much appreciated as his fear of the water and a cold threatened success. However, the approach and the motivation of Scuba Bula staff enabled Pierre to successfully finish the course and obtain the certificate.

At the same time, Trevor went out on five occasions and did 10 dives at some of the 19 dive sites available along the 70 kilometers of coral reef off the coast. The diving was fantastic and the accompanying staff of Scuba Bula were excellent in pointing out numerous plant and animal life, much of which would have been missed altogether. We were able to see an overwhelming amount of sealife including: tons of reef fish, up to 20 sightings of white-tipped reef sharks, hawksbill turtles, eagle rays, blue-spotted rays, stingrays, moray eels, banded sea snake, lobster, lionfish, humphead wrasse, and a delightful school of around 30 spinner dolphins, which entertained us with their spinning jumps, riding waves and speeding in front of the boat.
There was also a large anchor from an 18th century wreck, plenty of hard and soft coral, anemones, swim throughs, walls and other types of site formations.
Our final dives, Pierre's first as a certified diver were memorable and left us with a great appreciation for the reeflife, the conservation efforts of Scuba Bula and their highly successful and professional approach to learning how to dive and the actual diving itself. And, they are a great team and a lot of fun too. We could have stayed much longer.
