The Nadi backpackers inn had a great commercial at the airport with free pickup service. We evaluated that a stay here on a simple double room was better than a cheap resort because of prices. On their "about us" section they seem ideal for a backpacker. They even had "free internet" and private rooms from 30$ or so, but we ended up paying 65$ because it was per person.
They say that they are an " ideal home base for travelers while exploring" and if you are looking to explore getting mugged or buy drugs on the dirty streets of Nadi, that is very true. One of the local drug-dealers came up to us right outside the hostel and offered us a taxi, drugs and he also gave us friendly advice how not to get robbed and he also told us that we had to pay at least 4x the value of prices on restaurants because we are white. Nadi is a one-street s***hole and the hostel is conveniently located right in the middle of it. The "free internet" was only valid for 10 minutes and with the slow speed they offered it would not be enough to write a bad review on tripadvisor without paying for at least one hour. They also charge a low but incredible detailed and annoying price of 5$ for one hour, 10$ for 6 hours and a few other complicated options depending if you wore using wireless or a plug and also it was something about where on the house you wanted to use it. The taped up Pool-table was a 2$ extra charge, breakfast was poor (two slices of white bread with some kind of horrible jam, a shot-glass of watery juice and a weak cup of tea or coffee....)
Our "luxury double room" needed a new layer of paint, a doorknob on the incredible small bathroom`s door, a fan that does not sound like an attack helicopter, soundproofing (it was like we wore partying with the neighbors when we wanted to sleep), some fire safe electrics work (not tape on wires) and a few towels, a TV AND WIRELESS SIGNALS! I hate to pay for internet and get confined to the reception area.
Once the boss figured out that I was going to write a review here he got all scared and tried to charm us in to writing something nice by giving us 40% off on the next stay and showed us plans on how the place will look like in a year or so. When he tried to show me hes great reviews here the first headline was "horrible place run away from it", haha! The boss himself is a nice guy, but and old Indian guy working there would constantly try to tell us how to spend our vacation and he tried to plan our days by booking things through him or he would lure in the corners behind us. It was kind of annoying that he was spying on us like a predator when we tried to find a decent place to stay.
But if you decide to go, make sure to read the tips about how to handle the con-men that is painted on the door who leads out to the streets.
Room Tip: To get the best room, try to book at another place ;)
