Since 2007 and 2009 I travelled to Montevideo almost once a month for 3 to 4 days meetings. Some members of the delegation I was representing and I used to stay in this Hotel.

It is more like a hotel for business and not for fun. But is quite all right. Rooms and bathrooms are large, they have a small table and some cocking facilites. Location is great, walking distance from many restaurants and the Punta Carretas Mall. It is also walking distance from the Rambla (the local beach). It is across the street from a good gym (for Uruguayian parameters) and near MacDonalds and Subway, if you want to grab a bit latter at night.

Service is extremilly informal - which might be a good or a bad thing upon ones personal taste.

It is ceirtainly not the greatest hotel in Montevideo, but it is a good value for money.

the rooms are not ok, toilets are horrible and in overall its a nightmare to stay at this hotel.

The hotel needs updating and an overall cleaning. There must a problem with bugs because the hotel is sprayed so heavily we could not stay in the lobby or the rooms for any period of time. The breakfast was adequate but very thrown together and table not cleaned in time for change of occupants. The hotel is not a 4 star, not even 2. A pack of stray dogs sits at the entrance and the hotel staff does not feel that it is their responsibility to get rid of them.
The staff is not accommodating and while waiting for our room to be ready we lost a bag in the lobby. They were not able to trace it since the cameras were only covering a small area not inclusive of our bags. I would not recommend this hotel.

My friend and I stayed at Armon Suites in January in Montevideo before we headed off to Punte del Este. It was a good deal as the rooms were large and reasonably priced. I felt even more at home since I'm Jewish and appreciated all the details like the the paintings in the lobby depicting traditional Jewish celebration, kosher breakfast.... The front desk wasn't overly friendly but they weren't rude so that was good. Just don't eat at CHE down the street next to the ocean...it's really bad and you can get a better meal around the corner the other way away from the ocean.
