“Andean Flavor...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

A perfect combination of rustic luxury and authenticity. Staying at Urubamba Villas was indeed one of my trip´s highlights. These charming villas nestled in a beautiful setting are surrounded by natural gardens, orchards and Andean landscapes. Villas have been carefully furnished with local crafts and offer large spaces. The place gives a sensation of peacefulness, privacy and flexibility. Ideal for relaxing after exploring the sacred valley as our own housekeeper lit the fireplace and cooked a superb dinner for us. Location is also perfect; low altitude, mild climate, only about 15 minutes from Ollantaytambo station and 1 hour by train to Machu Picchu.

A very authentic and comfortable lodging alternative, great staff, excellent service. Highly recommendable.

Room Tip: All villas are different but keep the same style. Two types; 2 and 3 bedroom Villas. Be sure to incl...

“A highlight of our holiday”

This was fantastic. There are only a handful of individual villas on site - we had a two bedroomed, two storey villa to ourselves with our own housekeeper who cooked us a fabulous dinner and breakfast. She was very discrete arriving at an agreed time via a private door so as not to distrub us. The villa was luxurious - beautifully decorated and appointed in an eco-style. The garden setting and surrounding area are stunning. We sat outside on our private terrace with a bottle of wine watching the sunset. A lovely romantic evening during our honeymoon trip. The location is down a narrow road and we were picked up at the end of the road by the local mototaxi (like a tuk-tuk) which was an expereince in itself. There is another hotel with a simialr name in the area - so be careful not to book that by mistake - as this is just wonderful. Our pick up the next morning (to catch the train to Machu Picchu) was late as he went to the wrong one!

Room Tip: ALL THE ROOMS ARE FABULOUS Ensure you book in advance for brekfast and evening dinner - having your...

The house was very clean and beautifully decorated. Our housekeeper/cook was super friendly and the food she prepared was delicious.

“A lovely lovely stay”

We spent three days at the Urabamba Villas and I am hard pressed to highlight what I liked most -- while the villas themselves were the perfect combination of a beautifully appointed warm spacious peruvian country house and a wonderful luxury guest retreat, and the surroundings of the Sacred Valley were stunning -- I think that our favorite memory is that of the people. Berta, who was our fantastic cook, chef, housekeepper, woman Friday was a marvel -- everything she did was imbued with a warmth, hospitality and friendliness that was touching and made saying goodbye to her the hardest part of leaving. Russell, the General Manager, could not have been more welcoming or helpful throughout our entire stay. It really did feel like a home away from home -- a beautiful, warm and lovely one.

“Secluded, romantic, wonderful.”

BEAUTIFUL! Both the casitas and the environment. Excellent home cooked meals – prepared by your “maid” – allows you to sample many traditional Peruvian dishes and Peruvian wine. A bit secluded, but very romantic. Great altitude for acclimation (lower than Cusco). Not within walking distance to the city of Urubamba, but after a quick taxi ride we determined there wasn’t much to do in town (although it’s a large city, all the recommended bars that were listed in our guidebook were closed). They have a great collection of CDs you can listen to (jazz, lounge, etc) and games to play. It’s a great place to forget the world for a couple days. Typically, there is wi-fi access; however, the days we were there the connection was not working. The manager was exceptionally nice about it and laundered our dirty clothes (came straight from the Amazon!) for no charge. Overall, a very nice, relaxing stay!
