“Terrific hotel and staff for Ollyantaytambo stay!!!”

Many thanks to Sergio and Carlos for making my 3-day stay in Ollyantaytambo a highlight of my six weeks in Peru - right after my incomparable visit to Machu Picchu! This hotel is very spacious and open but at the same time, really cozy and comfortable, where guests are made to feel at home and are offered every possible assistance from all the staff, especially Sergio!

I loved all the plants and water features as well as the open concept in the common area - great design - and especially my room and balcony overlooking the ruins and the constant sound of the river below that lulled me to sleep at night. Also appreciated the availability of mate de coca and tea in the lounge area 24-hours a day. Great bedding and the best shower I'd had in my entire stay in Peru, with lots of pressure and plenty of hot water. Best location in Olly, just off the Plaza de Armas, lots of restaurants and shops and a brief ride by tuk-tuk to the train station - or a short walk for those with a little more energy. And the price was great, so I have not hesitation whatsoever in recommending Hotel Sol to anyone looking for a perfect home-away-from home. Muchas gracias Sergio por todo!!!

“Gracias, Sergio!”

We usually stay at pricier hotels: Hotel Sol was inexpensive yet comfortable. We enjoyed drinking tea in the hall at all times and we also enjoyed the views and sound of the river. It's cold in the winter, so I recommend bringing sweatpants/sweatshirts if you travel around then anywhere in Cuzco. If you spent a lot of money on flights and other excursions/hotels and want to be more of a part of the community (yet feel safe and comfortable) and pay less before visiting and after visiting Macchu Picchu, I recommend Hotel Sol. They took care of our connections to and from the airport. Sergio was accommodating and helped us book our day trips before we arrived in Peru. We visited surrounding pueblos and enjoyed learning more about the way locals live. Thanks, Sergio!

“Comfortable, clean hotel in Ollantaytambo”

We hadn't booked a room here in advance, but luckily the hotel had many vacant rooms when we visited Ollantaytambo. This hotel has very clean spacious rooms, clean bathrooms, and helpful staff. It also has hot water all day. It seems like its the nicest hotel in Ollantaytambo. It is right next to the river, so you can hear the water flowing through the night, which we liked. The breakfast spread isn't large, but it's not bad. Also, its a quick walk to the plaza de armas and all the main attractions.

Certainly recommend staying here!

“Great mountain views and centrally located”

We used Ollantaytambo as a base for Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley. The hotel is in the centre of town and well situated for the train station. Sergio was extremely helpful in every regard and he sourced restaurants, guides and taxis for us, and ensured we had everything we needed. Breakfast was ho hum and I would not recommend the lunch box. However the Pisco sours are delicious and happy hour is well worth being arond for.

We werent there for long so I didnt really have much of an expectation. Our towels were dirty but they promptly replaced them. Took a looooong time for water to heat up Killed various bugs in the room, but we are in South America after all! Watch out for the friendly house cat. It may be curled up under your covers. :-)
