Pros: nicely remodeled, great hot water, comfortable beds, spacious rooms (especially in comparison with some of the budget hotels we'd been staying in elsewhere in Peru). Breakfast was solid and had all the basics. Great recommendation on a few ceviche places just a few blocks' walk away. There's a pedestrian mall with lots of shops and some restaurants. Front desk was very helpful.
Cons: after a week in the Sacred Valley, central Lima felt claustrophobic. Laundry costs at the hotel are by item (rather than by kilo...perhaps that's more a Cuzco/hostel service). In searching for other laundry places, we found a laundry service, and the proprietor there warned us away from several areas that were not too distant (red light district, "tourists shouldn't go there, even in daytime"). We got spooked and moved to Miraflores (which for walking, we liked much better) for our last night in Lima. Airport pickup was very expensive relative to taxi costs (we learned it should be about 40-50 soles --> they were charging $30...and the guy was 45 minutes late after we called the hotel).
So, nothing against the hotel, but if I go back to LIma, I'll stay in Miraflores.
