“No Concerns with the Continental!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

I spent 5 nights at the Continental Hotel in May 2011 and I don't have any negatives so far. These are the positives of my experience:
*The staff were friendly and helpful when I needed to know about taxis and fares, places to go, distances, safety issues, restaurants, etc.
*Breakfasts were the same every day but delicious (scramble eggs with ham, coffee and buns, orange juice, etc). I did not eat at the hotel during the day, just mornings so I don't know about other meals.
*The staff in the cafeteria were really nice and shared with me about their lives in Lima and Peru in general.
*The free Internet at the Continental was fast and reliable, and I was able to book my hotel and transportation in Cusco from there.
*My bedroom was pleasantly quiet and clean. The window in my room faced a wall and I was disappointed at the beginning; however, the staff explained that rooms facing the street were a problem as people could not sleep due to the noise and traffic, which is truly bad in Lima.
*The Continental hotel is close to the Jiron de la Union, plazas, museums, and places of interest in Lima, banks, Western Union, restaurants, pubs, etc. Everything is in walking distance from the Continental.
*I want to return to Peru and if I return to Lima, I will stay at the Continental again. I especially like the stairs that you can see in one of the videos (Art Deco I think). Enjoy the videos and let me know if you have any questions!

“Newly Remodeled, Clean, Good Location for Historic Lima”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2011

This newly renovated hotel is located one block from Plaza San Martin, and only a few blocks from Plaza de Armas. Centrally located for all the historic sights in the center of old Lima. The rooms are clean, but small. Free Internet in the room, and acceptable continental breakfast. There's a large, new Metro supermarket just a few blocks away. Staff is friendly, but their English is limited. There are several local bars down the street. Street noise drifts up to the rooms, but it will in almost any place in the city center. This is a preferable option to the old and crusty Gran Hotel Bolivar one block away. The negative reviews are outdated.

Lovely staff, nice and varied breakfast but extremely cold rooms as unfortunately the hotel doesn't have central heating. Killer location. Generally a pleasant experience.

“The Continental is a well priced, clean, friendly, centrally located hotel with excellent service.”

There is an english speaking person on the front desk on every shift. The staff is friendly, helpful and polite. Rooms are clean and well kept. There is plenty of hot water with very good water pressure. Requests by guests for extra blankets, etc are given prompt service. The food is also very good. I highly recommend the Continental Hotel and look forward at staying at this hotel again.

“Good Hotel near Plaza de Armas”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2009

This is a good hotel located near the Plaza de Armas. The hotel arranged transport for our group and we arrived there late. The staff was waiting for us and checked us in promptly. Room was fine, bathroom was nice. Good hot water, but one of the other rooms our group had didn't always have hot water. Get a room on the first couple of floors. Construction going on, but didn't effect our visit. Breakfast is lame. A piece of bread and milk with coffee, but I've had the same in London. Overall not bad for the price and the staff is young and very nice.
