“Family Trip to Peru”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We are a family of four (two daughters 10 yr and 18yr). We had quite the adventure in Peru staying in many different hotels and hiking to Machu Picchu (we loved the Lares Trail). After about 8 days we finally reach The Garden House. How happy was I!! This hotel is just wonderful. Our rooms were spacious, the hosts were gracious, breakfast was terrific, and we just RELAXED!! This is the best hotel to just relax. Our rooms overlooked the lovely gardens with beautiful rays of sunshine illuminating our room. The hotel is not in central Cuzco, but the Taxi ride was not too long and none of us found it stressful to drive back and forth from town. I would highly recommend The Garden House. My suggestion is to stay there toward the end of your trip to decompress.

“AMAZING!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We were treated so well at the Garden House, and our stay was absolutely perfect. Before we arrived, they were incredibly helpful over email providing advice about late dinner options on Christmas eve.
On arrival, we found the Garden House to be a wonderful retreat from the busy town. Although a little further away from Cuzco, the distance wasn't a problem with cheap taxis. We were even given a mobile phone to borrow, and we could call back to the Garden House to order us a cab if we wanted.
Our room was very comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. Breakfast was a treat, and it was my birthday on our first morning there and we were surprised with a birthday cake complete with candles, which was so kind.
On our return from the inca trail, feeling very tired and in need of some TLC, we were welcomed by some very friendly faces and a home cooked meal. It felt like we had arrived home!
I cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you Doris and Ceci!

“Thanks for making my vacation wonderful and memorable !”

I am glad that I made the right choice to stay at the Garden House. The place was serene, the hosts were gracious and the staff were helpful.

The hotel is a big property surrounded by a garden. My room was spacious and clean and comfy, making it a perfect place for preparing for my trip to Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley and for rest upon return. Wi-fi was strong and fast. The hotel is not very close to town centre, but a taxi ride would take only 10-15 minutes and cost S./10 (less than 3 euros). It's closer to the airport than other in-town hotels.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the hosts Doris and Ceci for their personal attention for almost every detail. The breakfast was huge and Doris' scrambled egg was among the best I've ever had ! Ceci's travel and restaurant recommendations were unbeatable (if you happen to be in Cusco go to MAP in el Museo de Arte Precolombino for dinner). They made personal itineraries for guests; they gave you a cellphone so that you could call the hotel and they would send you a reliable taxi; they saw you off when you left for Machu Picchu at 4 a.m. and made sure you took a raincoat ... muchos gracias to Doris and Ceci for making my trip safe, enjoyable and unforgettable !

If I am lucky enough to be able to return to Peru and Cusco, I will definitely stay at the Garden House again. The place is highly recommended.

“A wonderful place to stay at in Cusco...”

I'm glad that we chose this place,it could not be any better. The place is not touristy..Not at the city center but it was never a problem since we were provided a car and driver. $3 about 10 soles each way. Ceci & Doris were very gracious hosts. We had everything we needed and wanted . Even a mobile phone where we can call them should you need anything and even an oygen tank to acclimatize.
This place is the best to stay at if you are on your way to Macchu Picchu. They arranged the trip for us. Everything had their personal touch. It was a nice respite from the luxury hotel chains . This place was immaculately clean. Breakfast was super! A fabulous rose garden in Cuzco.

“A long long way from the centre of town, but lovely welcome when you get there”

This hotel has a lovely hostess who couldn't do enough for us. The accomodation was perfectly nice as well.

The breakfast was a little small to be honest - made to order, but limited options. It was nice though.

The big downside to this hotel though was the location. It was about 20 minutes in a taxi from the centre of town and absolutely nothing to see in the immediate area. There was nowhere to eat, although they provided local takeaway menus that could get a high quality of food to you pretty quickly.

They also organised a very good value driver to take us for a full day around the Sacred Valley, he was very accomodating and friendly although he spoke virtually no English.

It's difficult for me to recommend this place as for the money there are places just as nice right in the centre of Cusco
