Torre Dorada was by far the best hotel we stayed at during our recent trip to Peru. It is a small B&B type hotel, in the residential district close to town center, about 7minutes by taxi. Eggs made to order in the morning, the personal touches in the well-appointed rooms, the welcoming lounges on each floor, the free taxi rides to and from the hotel, and the very dedicated staff made for a very enjoyable experience!

The staff at Torre Dorada and the hotel really went out to make us feel special.

We wanted
*food delivered...no problem.
*leftovers put into the breakfast the next day...no problem.
*rides to/from the airport, DownTown and shopping areas...no problem.
*Wireless, water are included

The hotel is very clean....so clean it smells a little like cleaner....that's the only downside.

We just returned from a trip from Machu Picchu and stayed in Torre Dorada on the way up there. It is a fantastic hotel with clean rooms, good breakfast and super friendly staff. They are about 10 minutes away from the main square but provide free car service anytime you want, from the hotel to any destination in Cusco, so the distance from the square is not an issue at all. We also booked our entire Machu Picchu package through this hotel and everything was perfectly planned and went off smoothly.
I would highly recommend Hotel Torre Dorada (especially when you compare it to some of the other hotels and hostels we saw in Cusco!)

Torre Dorada is a short distance out of the centre of Cuzco, so it is quiet and cosy. They provide free transport to and from the city at any time, so this is no problem. The staff there are helpful and friendly, and the hotel feels warm and comfortable. There are about 5 rooms on each of the four floors (no lift), so it's wise to book ahead. If you are looking for a good hotel at a reasonable price, and don't need to be in the centre of town, this is the place to go, especially for couples. The breakfasts are excellent and included. They will look after your bags if you're off on a trek until you come back, and provide airport transfers. The rooms are nice and clean. Nothing to fault.

Room tip: If you don't want to climb stairs, ask for a room on the ground floor.

A dream for both my wife and I was to visit Machu Picchu. We finally were able to do this in Sept/Oct 2007. Hotel Torre Dorada (and especially Peggy) made this trip nothing less than magical. From the initial e-mail correspondence to the airport pickup to the breakfast each morning, there were too many experiences to write on this w/o writing a book. To give just a few (in addition to the above): the special treatment (coca tea) my wife and I received on the first day after experiencing altitude sickness, the efforts at night to get us tickets for the train to Machu Picchu (we didn't realize you needed a reservation before hand), meeting and sharing lunch w/ a University music professor (who made us flutes) when the hotel learned about our music passion, working with us on a flexible schedule as we came and went from the hotel over a 3 week period. We have had some amazing experiences and made some special friends that we will treasure for our life.

Room tip: The higher rooms have a view over the outside of the city.
