We stayed here before & after doing the Inca trail, the hotel is wonderfully situated, close to lots of the city attractions, cafe's & restaurants. The buffet breakfast good & they happily organized for us to have at 0500 prior to our departure on the trek. The best hotel we stayed at throughout our 4week holiday through South America.

Hotel Marqueses was recommended to us by SAS travel, whom we booked our Inca trail hike with - we stayed for 2 nights prior to the hike, and 1 night after.

On arrival we were welcomed warmly and given Coca tea in the courtyard while our reservations/rooms were processed - much beter than other hotels in Peru where you have all your luggage around you and you need to fill in a number of forms prior to getting your keys. It was so relaxing we were in in hurry to go to our rooms!

Breakfast was excellent, and actually started very early at 5am, to accommodate alot of customers whose tours start early - this is very common in Peru. This was excellent - we often missed breakfast at other places due to hotels not starting service unitl 6.30am. Also while on the hike, the hotel kept our luggage in storage - another valuable service. We also had a person in our group suffer from severe altitude sickness - the front desk were very efficient and helpful, calling for the doctor and arranging room service.

Rooms were nice and spacious, although a bit dark. However, it is in a great location, and overall a highly recommended hotel.

Great old colonial mansion with 2 courtyards. Large room, comfortable bed, with nice bathroom. Great location - easy walk to main squares. Hotel staff was very attentive and helpful. Good breakfast included with fresh fruit and made to order eggs.

Had a little difficulty with the back office and they had no record of my reservation when we arrived. - Nobody picked us up at the airport, as promised. Fortunately, I had a copy of the email exchange from when I booked the room and they had vacancies. The room rate is evidently negotiable as I was able to get approximately a third off the stated rates.

Hotel Marqueses was our Cusco, Peru home away from home. As part of our SAS travel package we stayed one night, left for a couple of days to visit the area and then came back for another two or three nights. It was like an oasis that we kept coming back to after our daily walk about adventures. Very close to the main town square and a exciting cab ride away from anything out of reach by walking. The hotel is a very old and very large family home converted to a hotel. The staff spoke English better than I spoke Spanish so we got along fine. The hotel kept our large luggage under lock and key while we took only what we needed when we left for the few days between our stays. All was fine when we returned and the contents were untouched. The room was cozy as we had two kids along, but clean and very authentic Hacienda. They provided a safe and small fridge. The breakfasts were very nice with a small dinning area indoors to keep you from the morning cold, the host was very nice and would make you just about whatever you like. Most of the Hotel is open courtyard (a bit chilly at times so bring a sweater) with fountains and sitting areas to enjoy your complimentary warm Coca tea. It always seemed to help our heads after a long day at higher than normal altitude. After spending a few days around Peru, I was more than excited to spend another few nights. Cusco is full of action with great shopping and site seeing and it is all very close to the hotel. We stayed in some great places while we were in Peru, but I think this was my favorite hotel of the trip. I would highly recommend the Hotel Marqueses.
