Really pleased to have found the Aranwa, great hotel in a sea of similar looking hotels. Service was great, down to storing our bags while we went to Machu Picchu for the night at no cost.

“Beautiful Hotel offering a Luxurious Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We Stayed here in Dec 2011 over two periods. One night en-route to Machu Picchu and then upon return from Machu Picchu a further 3 nights. We booked this directly via their website and booked a Deluxe room for both stays which has a separate bath and shower and is larger than their standard rooms.

When we arrived, we were blown away from the tastefully decorated room. It had a luxurious feel (had chandeliers) and all furnishings looked new. The rooms equipped with oxygen to acclimatise, the bathroom had underfloor heating, had marble floors/walls/bench tops and both the bathroom and bedroom were extremely clean. This is something we are quite picky about and the hotel did not disappoint. However, I think they put us in a standard room the first night as we did not have the separate shower/bath combination. This did not matter as we felt nauseas and wouldn’t have used the bath anyways, however a little disappointing we paid for a higher priced room and got put into a lower priced room.

Other pros:
Bed was extremely comfortable, pillows were cosy
Robes and slippers were provided and were comfortable
Had a heated towel rail
Constant Oxygen supply – my wife had altitude sickness and this helped her
Heating in room is excellent. The room has a temperature control setting, your room is always warm, you never feel cold.
Staff response times were excellent. This made our stay even more perfect. Special mention to Guido who seemed to help us with any issues we had
Staff book local taxi’s at no extra cost
Bags were delivered into the room and collected within 5mins of calling front desk. We never had to wait. Bags were stored and put into our room without needing to worry
Food for Lunch and Dinner were excellent. Pricey but delicious, Breakfast was good but repetitive.
Hotel is well located and we always felt safe here. It is close to sites and the park which is down the road
Extra towels and floor mats are provided. We never had the need to ask for extra towels
The showers water pressure was good and we always had plenty of hot water
Plenty of Vanity space to spread your toiletries
Common seating area is beautifully decorated and is nice to relax at when waiting for taxi’s etc.
Always noticed staff cleaning the hotel. Whether it was the courtyard floors to the entrance of the hotel. We love hotels that make cleanliness a priority!

Cons:
The first room we stayed in (which we think was a standard) and the deluxe room was not big, but was practical. So if you have large suitcases, be mindful of this.
We wanted to buy entrance tickets to Machu Picchu. The staff directed us that it was 5mins walk down the road, however when we got there we were advised that the ticketing booth had long moved to another site which was about a 40min walk. Staff need to be trained to ensure they provide the correct info to guests
No xmas dinner was served on xmas day which we thought was a little strange
Cannot dispose of toilet paper in toilets... I’m not too sure why the toilets did not flush like normal toilets. We nonetheless used the toilets for flushing the paper

This was one of the best boutique hotels we have stayed at. The hotel staff go out of their way to make it a comfortable stay. On Xmas day they were all out of umbrella’s and they went out and purchased a brand new one for us, just so we could go out for a walk

I would recommend all to pay extra and go for the deluxe room that has a bath and separate shower. It is a big step up from the standard as the bathroom is bigger. We stayed in room 102 – and it is also more private as less people are staying around you. Our first night was on the second level in a std room (I believe).

I would highly recommend all to stay here. I would definitely stay here again should we ever get the chance to return to Peru (as a result of our excellent experience I would definitely try their sister hotel in sacred valley). Aranwa Cusco is a great launching pad for your adventure to Machu Picchu. Thank you to the Aranwa team for ensuring our stay was special which capped off our magical trip to Machu Picchu

Room Tip: Pick the Deluxe Room that has seperate Shower and Bathtub

“THE Best Choice in Cusco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Perfect in every way. My wife and I, together with our two grandchildren, stayed at the Aranwa in early January after visiting Cusco. The highest-level quality of our two rooms, service with a smile (from everyone!), the bountiful breakfasts and the location make this hotel the perfect choice in Cusco. And, a bonus is the oxygenated guest rooms to help take the worry out of any possible altitude problem. This hotel is special.

“Possibly the best hotel we've EVER stayed in!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We stayed in the Aranwa for two nights and then one night either side of our trip to Machu Picchu. This hotel is amazing! Excellent location, a pleasant 5 minute walk from the main square. On arrival we were immediately ushered into a lounge area and given a cup of coca tea, while our bags were taken to our room.

Our deluxe room was cavernous with a huge chandelier, original colonial art on the ceiling, super-luxurious bathroom and giant enclosed terrace area looking out onto the street. They pump oxygen into the rooms to ease the effects of altitude - compared to other hotels we went on to stay in, this was a welcome addition that definitely helped us to sleep better. There is free wifi available in the rooms and throughout the hotel. We also utilised the hotel's DVD library one night.

The communal areas are beautiful, centred round a grand courtyard, which you overlook at breakfast. Breakfast was extensive and delicious, plus it's available from 5am to accommodate the early risers heading off to Machu Picchu. The bar area is very nicely decorated but was empty the whole time we were there, so we didn't use it.

Overall the service was impeccable - every staff member was super polite and helpful, though the hotel seemed quiet and there were always several guys just 'standing around'. We changed currency at the front desk with ease and stored our luggage there overnight whilst at Machu Picchu - upon our return it had already been transferred to our room (not as grand as the first but still fabulous).

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

This is such a beautiful hotel and for the price, I think it offers exceptional value. The rooms are spacious and very tastefully decorated and the bathrooms very well appointed. We stayed 2 nights before our trek and then returned 4 days later to stay another night. It was no problem for them to mind our luggage in that time and to even leave the bill until our return. We only ate in their restaurant on our last night in an attempt to sample the "real" Cusco. Mistake! The food here is so incredible I wish we had eaten there every night! The included breakfasts were also fantastic and the staff very attentive and friendly and spoke remarkably good English. Do yourself a favour and experience this hotel and this beautiful city for yourself :)
