“Ok place, could use updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

As stated by others it's a little ways from City Center (about 2 blocks), however the walk is very interesting and easy. They have a little kitchen that you can use and they prepare a small breakfast for you in the morning. The staff is very helpful with other travels in the area. I was on my way to Machu Picchu and they happened to have another hotel in Ollantaytambo so I was able to set up a room there no problem!
A little noisy trying to sleep towards the back with a rooster chicken crowing in the middle of the night!

Room Tip: Get a room towards the front otherwise you will hear the chickens crow al night!

“Welcoming place with wonderful staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

We stayed at this hostel because of its recommendations from our friends and on trip advisor.
We were picked up from the airport in Cusco and once we arrived at the hostel we were greeted with a cup of coca tea and shown what to see and do.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and was cleaned daily. Plenty of hot water and wifi in our room.
The staff here were very nice to us and if I did return to Cusco I would stay with these guys again.

Thank you for making our stay comfortable and fun.

“You won't find better care and attention anywhere”

Wonderful friendly hotel very close to the main historic square (Plaza de Armas). Clean rooms. Continental breakfast.

Met at the airport. Greeted with a nice cup of coca tea to counter any altitude sickness.

Laura arranged our whole trip to Machu Piccu, from taxi from the hotel to the bus, bus to the station, business class train (* SEE NOTE), Machu Piccu entrance ticket and guide, nice Hotel in Aguas Callientes right next to the bus up to the Inca city, and all the way back.

If we had booked all this ourselves, it would have taken at least a day…. And been more expensive!

Even more wonderful, I had broken a tooth in Miami before coming. Laura found me an excellent dentist, got her to open the surgery on a Sunday, and came with me while the tooth was fixed. Now I can smile again :-)

* NOTE: Ejecutivo or Business Class to Machu Piccu is the best option. Ordinary is standing only… and for a couple of hours this is true cattle class. First Class is wildly expensive.

“Safe and Sound”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Hostal Girasoles is conveniently located, clean and comfortable. Mercedes, luis and all the staff are more than welcoming. I felt so safe and reassured around Cusco despite being a girl traveling alone. Mercedes was there to meet me at the airport and explained all the ins and outs of the city. A genuinely warm hearted person, she goes above and beyond to make sure you have a good time.

The rooms themselves are simple but very clean. I always had a piping hot shower (rare in cusco.) The girls who clean the room do a fantastic job. If you get tired walking around cusco, the rooftop is a great refuge. When i headed up the stairs i was amazed at the view. Beautiful. I also had pretty fast, reliable wireless internet connection throughout my stay.

All in all, no complaints to be had. I'm a happy customer :)

Room Tip: Send mercedes an email and she'll help you figure out what you need.
