During our trip thru Peru we stayed in this place for a few nights. We didn't liked it .
We had a double room with a not so clean private bathroom included breakfast. But we never had breakfast but no one was around to serve us.
The location is oke: just a 10minute walk to the lovely center of Arequipa.
For safety reasons the front door is locked. We once had to wait 35 minutes for someone to open the door! Thanks to the tourists who left the hotel we could get in.
There was hardly any staff around. We almost never saw anyone at the reception to help us.
The hotel claim to run a tourist / travelagency. So we wanted to buy bustickets to Puno. We gave them money to buy them for us. They asked a little amount for the service and we agreed. The next day we asked the lady about the tickets and she told us a strange story about her son who went to buy us our tickets but there wasn't any seat available. Ok, we said, no tickets so give us our money back, we are changing our plans then. She refused to give us our money back because her son still had the money and he was working at the moment. She promised us: that evening, at 8 o'clock she would give us our money back. But at 8 o'clock no one was there. We rang the bell several times and waited for 1 hour. No one came.
Next day we wanted to leave at 6.30 am. They already knew that. But... No one there to pay our bill to of to give us our money back. So we left a note with the money for our stay minus breakfast and minus the busticketmoney in the kitchen and we left. Never heard of them again.
So we went to the busstation were we could buy almost 100 tickets to Puno if we wanted... Enough seats, enough tickets...

- They don't accept creditcards although they say they do! ("the machine isn't working" or "there is no connection possible")
- Internet isn't free
- They offer a free pick-up from the airport, but you still have to pay the taxi. (?)
- They serve breakfast when they are ready. Almost never.
- There is almost no staff around. The cleaninglady runs the place in a very strange way.
- And, what I hate most: they lie about breakfast, free internet, creditcards, money and bustickets. Why?

We stayed in very weird places during al our trips around the world but this was by far the worst.

This hostel might not look like much from the outside, but the rooms are clean and there is a lovely garden and patio. When we stayed here, there were two adorable dogs that would lounge in the yard. The breakfast is delicious, and can be enjoyed in the garden on a nice day. The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. There is a great view of the volcano El Misti from the upstairs patio. There is a slow but free computer with internet for use in the common area.

My husband and I just spent 4 nights at Tambo Viejo, and had a very pleasant experience. Like many converted houses in South America it could use some work; however, it was spotlessly clean, from the public areas to the room to the bathroom. We stayed in room 205, at the back and overlooking the garden, with a view out of the bathroom to Misti Volcano. The bed was extremely comfortable, with new, colorful bed linens, we had cable tv in the room, and it was spacious, as was the bathroom. The water was hot and water pressure was just fine. Patricia, the owner, and her staff treated us with great courtesy and went out of their way to assure our comfort. They ordered carry-in food for us when we were too lazy to go out for dinner (!), brought it to our room when it was delivered, and provided us with plates, flatware, napkins and glasses. The continental breakfast, included with the rate, was yummy - really good bread, fresh juice and our choice of mate tea or coffee - and served in the sunny garden. Although the hostal is located on an extremely busy street our room was quiet with no traffic noise. It's about a 10-block walk to the Plaza, but not a problem. Tambo Viejo isn't a Sonesta, but it doesn't charge Sonesta rates, either. For the price, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to stay in Arequipa. We booked a 2-day/1 night Colca Canyon tour with them, and it was way better than we expected.

we arrived in arequipa the 16 august and hotel have my reservation, but haven't rooms free.
we have got 2 triple rooms. 1 of these not cleaned and with a little bathroom , the other with WC broken.....
the breakfast was included ,but the MISS MANAGER didn't serve it to us if we didn't pay it!!!!
