What a value. We stayed on the 4th floor and had a great view of town and the volcano (if the clouds moved out). Big picture windows on all sides. Full, stocked kitchen. Breakfast was served in the room and was very good. Restaurants in town were all good. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again. Some difficulty getting to Pucon by bus but once you are there it is easy to get around. The hotel also has internet connection if you want it. It was nice to get in touch with family. The keyboard is spanish so finding the @ symbol took some time. Unfortunately it rained the entire time we were in town so we saw a lot of our room and liked all of it.

Hotel Del Volcan provided great lodging for our party of four on February 24, 2005. The facility was very clean with nice ammenities, recently built in an excellent Pucon location. Convenient to great restaurants/shopping. We loved our view of the lake and views of Volcano Villarica are available. A modest continental breakfast was served in our rooms. Most impressive was the secured lobby and polite reservation staff who spoke English or immediately contacted someone who could. (We spoke no Spanish.) Rate was reasonable. The room we had was huge. But was far from clean. The staff wasn't overly friendly and unsympathetic- even after having some problems with the room (safety box was broken, latches for doors not usable). The room was not clean either. Last kicker was (not their fault) is it is right in the middle of town and very noisy (dogs barking, music, drumming, etc.) well into the night.

First of all, if you have never heard of Pucon, you must experience it for yourself. I speak very little spanish, and didn't encounter much english at all in Chile, but what a beautiful and unspoiled (ie..lawyers haven't taken control and regulated everything) to visit. Very old world in regards to service and class. I walked into Del Volcan in late November to find it virtually empty and got a twin room with breakfast included for US $50 per night. I highly recommend visiting Pucon in Nov/Dec timeframe, as I'm told that it is virtually impossible to get a room in Jan/Feb during the peak summer months in the southern hemisphere. Everything is withing walking distance of this property, including a very fancy casino and all of the "main" street high adventure outfitters, resturants and shops. You should definately rent a car and drive into Pucon. I flew into Temuco from Santiago and drove the entire Lake District region. REcommend the volcano climbs and the local fly ufishing. Also, if you really want to see a way of life that isn't in the US, visit one of the very rural hot springs. Truly a "remote" and "rustic" experience. Nothing like that in Florida!
