The location was excellent for food and shopping
The rooms weren't very clean. The floor was dusty and full of hair.
Seemed like it hasn't seen a broom for a while.
One of the front desk clerk was very very rude. He made you feel like you were annoying him
and that he had better things to do than to help you. (He forgets that we are the one paying his wages by staying at this hotel). We were supposed to check out by 1pm and was just about to leave the room when he rang the room and abruptly told us we should've have checked out already. SORRY!!
Apart from that we had a great time shopping and eating.
The old Tristar in Spore was ok for the price. The new Tristar within the Hotel81 group is it definitely not. Dirty rooms with the charme of a jail.
This is a place to stay, nothing more. Location is not great. Rooms are acceptable.
We stayed here when travelling in 2003 and it is just too far out from the mian attractions of Singapore. The surrounding area is a bit dicey, we went to the local shopping mall and a random man groped my girlfriend as he walked past. In one of the local restaurants we had ants running all over our table, the waiter just brushed them off and said it was normal. Hotel is basic, room was clean enough and internet access but better off spending a few quid extra and booking in centre of Singapore
