We stayed at the Parkroyal on Beach Road after trying numerous other hotels, which were all booked.
The location was not great, not really walking distance however it was only a 5 minute taxi ride to Orchard Road.
We were extremely impressed with the service we received. We stayed on the Orchard Club Floor, where afternoon tea was provided, with an open bar. Breakfast was also available on the floor which was great, like your own private buffett.
Room was nice and clean.
Hotel facilities were excellent - massive pool, gym, a number of restaurants, large foyer etc.
We would recommend this hotel if you don't mind being out of the action a little bit.

Not exactly cheap but very clean, great rooms, right next to the Arab quarter (nice but drinks are expensive S€8.00 for a small bottle of beer and 10 for glass of wine and 10 mins walk from Little India (S€5.00 big beer). Also a cool mini-Chinatown I between the 2 with great food malls at S€3 to S€5 for stunning food. Again, beer only S€5.00 a big Tiger beer.
Summary? A great hotel in a cool location.

This is not the first time we have stayed at this hotel, nor will it be the last. Unless, of course I win the lottery. Despite what some older reviews have stated, we found that we were not disturbed by construction work at all. nor did we hear any noise from along Beach Rd. We did find, however, that some inconsiderate guests in the adjoining room behind us were rather on the loud side. This is NOT management's fault, so we could not blame them. As always, we walked to Bugis to catch the underground, only a short walk away. Another short walk away, is Suntec City.
My better half loves wandering along Arab St, so this hotel is ideal, in that it is only the other side of Beach Rd to Arab St. All the staff are very helpful. Especially when it comes to asking the bus number to a particular destination. I had some postcards to send off, so the concierge looked after those for me, saving a trip to the post office.
On this particular trip, we did not use the pool facilities. Time was against us. When we visit Singapore again, we will have to stay longer.
One thing that we noticed, was that since our last stay, the rooms have been updated. I know that some floors were being updated during our last stay ,but not our particular floor. We are not certain if we like the updated rooms, or not. We feel that they might be just a little bit too modern. but, that is our opinion.
