I first used this hotel a couple of years ago and will be making a return visit later in the month. I like the location and the colonial feel of the hotel. There is a 7-11 directly across the road from the hotel and a handy little bar The Flying Hog which has a relaxed atmosphere also located across the street. Breakfasts were excellent on my last visit.

stayed for 2 nights and was very nice. clean good air conditoning. room big and beds comfortable. Easy to get to on SMRT, near china town. Definitely would stay again as rates good and breakfast good

Good location, very good stuff on reception, free internet on reception, and wifi in room for charge quite expensive 70S$ week. Daily newspapers, nice breakfast (if wake up at 7.00) at 8.30 need to wait 20-30 min., to get what you expect. Only pasta in restaurant, get dinner 3 days, other 4 choose another one as already try almost all menu. Hot water is coming first 10 min.. All other good.

The location of this hotel is on the edge of Chinatown and this is where I found the best places for bargains and eating local food. The hotel is well maintained and it reminds me of Raffles style, old British with soft music playing. I read some previous reviews and asked for a room at the back of the hotel as these are quiet. I was not disappointed, the staff were helpful and the breakfast kept me going for the day. There is nothing to fault with this hotel for a stopover to see Singapore.
