I stayed 3 nights at the Shangri-La on a business trip. This is the oldest Shangr-La and it has a certain grandeur given its size, usual style and great common areas. Food is good (excellent, even if expensive breakfast buffet) and service is excellent. I like the location and the rooms have a certain charm even if they are getting a bit oldish. A nice choice for a business trip.

Shangri - La is a very good hotel to stay. Their service is very good and the rooms are well done with all amenities present in the rooms. The city view is good with orchard street residences being visible from the rooms.

Hotel - The line buffet at the hotel is pretty amazing. With cuisines from all over the world including India, Japanese, Thai, Korean, European, American, Local food etc. The pool and the gym are up to the mark. They also have a fine dining restaurant blu which I haven tried yet.

Value: Well! Staying in Singapore is expensive. Hence i would say this place is a good value.

Location: A mile from Orchard street shops. A cab is usually necessary. No shops around the corner. The street is usally open 24 hrs. Cabs are available in plenty. Sometimes a wait for few minutes.
PS - They have shuttles every hour to orchard street malls. Also, sentosa has there bus come every 45mins.

Quality: I think the quality is really good. No complaints.

Timing: There is construction going on till July 2012 so if you do get affected by sounds every now and then. Visit them after July. :-)

This was a stop over for two nights on the way to New Zealand and it was such a relaxing place to stay. The door man in traditional costumn welcomed me and there were always friendly staff on hand to answer any queries. They suggested day and evening trips and as I was travelling alone this was so important. The rooms were spotless and elegant, the surrounding grounds and pools were beautiful. The breakfast had every choice imaginable and I had a delicius eveing meal. One very helpful and amusing touch was the fact that the carpet in the lift was changed every day, with the name of the day printed on it. For the long distance traveller this was great. It was a great place to stay.
