“Very clean but old hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I have stayed in an executive room , so my experience will be different than other travellers. The room was a bit small but recently renovated and very clean. The hotel is in a very good location and close by to everything. It cost $10 SGD by taxi to get to Sentosa island .

The staff are very friendly, speak fluent english and are very helpful. The breakfast buffet is really good in terms of food variety and quality. however, the main stream dining hall gets very busy and also getting food would be somewhat challenging. In my case , I was having my breakfast in the executive lounge which has its own buffet and tables which was excellent.

All in all my experience was positive mainly due to staying in an executive room, although it was a bit pricey.

Room Tip: pay more and get an executive room , its worth it :)

“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Old 4 star hotel. Has a feeling of a 5 star 90s hotel. Walking 3 minutes to the Chinatown metro. The surrounding area doesn't have anything special but being next to the metro is enough. Clean room, nice beds, clean bathroom, breakfast was so so although there is a big variety of things you can eat. Overall I could say for the price that we paid (70$) and comparing to other Singapore hotel prices it def worths the money.

“I am a smoker couldnt handle this place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

I know when you ask for a room where you can smoke in , but what we got was the same as having a smoke at the dug out at the airport , but apart from that we did explore as much of the downtown area ,Quay port or whatever it was called ,Marina bay sands hotel impressive ,the singapore flyer ,a great restuarant called the Fishermans Wharfe near Quay port absolute bargain if you love fresh seafood and dont fall for the traditional crab routine because this place serves the lot and as many times as you like for around $49 aus //chilli crab ,pepper crabs, prawns ,oysters the lot you wont be disapointed // fell for the fish therapthy in Marina Sands ,still waiting for spiritual change in my body ,i am thinking mr Right on Foxtel is full of it cos thats where i saw it first ,with my crusty chassis i hope the little grubs choked .Beautiful city to visit but toooooo expensive.See yah Vince

“Great location and good value (for Singapore)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

A typical 3-star hotel and in e.g. Bangkok this would not be considered good value for money. But if you don't want to spend a fortune on sleeping this is the best option I've found in Singapore so far. The lobby is dark but there is plenty of people working behind the counter so you don't have to spend so much time there. We had booked a club room and the "lounge" is on the first floor - so no views while you sip on your free drinks (the only window is actually facing the lobby). Staff is friendly and professional. The room was clean and functional but with a dark interior that gave an outdated feeling. The big window with a decent view helped though. The breakfast was nothing to write home about but there was plenty of different options - some of them edible - so I didn't leave hungry. Free WiFi also in the room.

The really nice thing about this hotel is the location. The business quarters are just across the street as well as China town. Clarke Quay is a 3 minute walk away which a great place to hang out for food and drinks after a day of business meetings. If you want to go further away there is a MRT station within walking distance.
