Hi all, I stayed at Aqueen Hotel Balestier for two nights, booked a single room through Agoda for around €62 a night. The room was really tiny but clean and not worn out at all. The hotel is about 15 minute walk from Novena MRT station, there's a shopping centre (Shaw Plaza) almost opposite the hotel with few uninspiring shops inside, the only outlets worth mentioning are a supermarket in the basement and KFC/McD at the ground floor. There are also two 7-Eleven shops nearby. In overall, I would recommend this hotel to everyone who doesn't mind the 15 min walk to the nearest MRT.

We stayed here for 2 nights and don't have any significant complaints. The hotel is on Balestier Road so it's easy to find. Check-in was fast and easy, same with checking out. The room was clean, but the shower leaked onto the carpet every time we used it. The bed was nice and firm, and there was total blackout when the curtains were drawn. There was enough room to move around for 2 adults and 2 large suitcases. The metro isn't what I'd call close by, but staff suggested taking the bus to the train. It only took us about 10 minutes to walk to the station, IMHO I don't think this is too difficult at all. We'd certainly return to this hotel if the location suited us again like it did this time.

We arrived at the hotel, mid-afternoon from Nusa Lembongan, Bali: culture shock! Singapore is clean and green, very impressive. The front desk was professional; I wouldn't say friendly and certainly not rude. The room was small, everything needed was almost within arm's reach. The location was good, frequent buses to the MRT and areas within the city. Orchard Road shopping was 20 minutes away, and we walked to "Little India". Across the street is a movie theater and many restaurants are close by. We were entertained and and well fed!
We stayed three nights, just the right amount; the hotel is functional and simple, with no food served. Again, this was not a problem, there are places to eat everywhere.
The one negative: there seemed to be an over-abundant use of air freshener, to the point of over-powering.
This area may have more lighting stores than restaurants; and like I said, there were plenty of places to eat.

Pretty nice small hotel. But the negative issue is: The cleaning staff stole some of my items from my room. The staff just appologized, but I am not sure if they took the consequences. Dont bring any valuables to this hotel or use the safe as your things are not safe there.
