We stayed at Cairnhill towers for a month. Its a great location and very close to Newton MRT (5 min-walk). The property is in good condition and the apt is cleaned three times a week. I am not sure why the previous reviewer had problems with insects - we did not have any issues.

The only downside is that there is no play area for kids - which would have been great to entertain our two year old. The pool and gym are fine (not fancy but have all the basics). The staff is helpful and friendly.

Location is good but not perfect. The building is old and lift works really slow.

For my 2 month stay in Singapore, I chose this location over all the others because for the same price, it was larger (more sq ft and it had 2 br instead of 1). After spending the first weekend in the apartment, I decided that the quality was not up to par. There was an insect problem in the kitchen from the very first time I looked, and even though there was no food, the problem persisted. Also, the kitchen is dingy.. and smelly, I think the door to the trash shute does not close all the way, and the countertops are cheap and worn. The lid on the master bath toilet doesn't stay up on it's own. The bedrooms were okay, dining room and living room were nice, but only one sofa in the living room which is not enough for a 2 bedroom apartment. Distance from the MRTs is okay, but it's a bit of a walk which can seem long in the heat of the day.
