Being my gf's 1st trip to Singapore, there were several places in Singapore that she has got to visit. Sentosa was one of those places!

We checked into the Amara on Jan30,2012 and got a nice little tour of the Amara by ine of the concierge guys. We stayed in the garden suite and the space/layout of the room was fabulous! Nice therapeutic aroma was evident in the room and a great outdoor jacuzzi was at a sort of backyard of our suite.

Palawan beach is just 5mins walk away. And this being a Monday, it is a wonderful getaway place to be. Dinner was available in the food court at the beach. Quality is acceptable.

Everything about Amara was great except for the time when we went to bed. As we were turning in for the night, there was a distinctive bad odour emitting from our bed sheets and pillow cases!! Sleep was scarse that night.

Breakfast quality was pretty acceptable. Due to our sleep being minimal the last night, we had breakfast pretty late but the staff allowed us in anyway. Had a short swim at the infinity pool after breakfast and checked out.

All in all, a great great experience MINUS the sheets and would recomend it to everybody. BUT! Do change the stinking sheets if you think it is going to hinder your good night's rest!

If you think of the word sanctuary you think of peace, tranquility and relaxation, our stay here was anything but. Our disappointment began with check in where reception service was busy, understaffed and therefore slow. We chose the Amara Sanctuary on Sentosa specifically for the adult-only pool where we could relax and chill, however there were 2 main issues. Firstly the speakers from the nearby Animal Encounter show and screams from Universal Studios were interferring but more importantly the pool policy was not enforced with children playing noisily around and in the pool. When we approached staff we got the shrug of shoulders and an attitude of nothing can be done. We complained to management who acted swiftly but the following day the same thing happened. The property was also poorly maintained with dead leaves lying about, clonking lifts and slimy pool surface. We did write a follow-up email but 2 weeks later we are still awaiting a response.

I have stayed this hotel about four times over last few years. Hospitality and standard has remain same. Such a beautiful place in middle of tropical garden.
The place is not big thus gives a feel of a home away from home.

Wanted a short getaway with family but seriously regretted wasting money. Should have just stayed at home.

- Choose to stay in their 2 room villa to house my family and to pamper everyone.
- We arrive at hotel around 7pm, lobby was quiet with no guest in sight and bell counter manned by 1 staff who gave us the blank look and left us to unload luggages ourselves from the car. No valet service.
- Got to the villa, overall size was fine and there is very nice mood though just like resorts in Bintan.
- Private pool in centre of villa is very nice though.
- Room size itself is poor though, toilet size just as disappointing.
- Outdoor shower right in the open with no doors.
- We requested for change of villa with same 2 rooms layout with more privacy but was told only possible next day.
- Got woken up rudely during 4am or so due to testing of PA system by Universal Studios park nearby!!
- We got another villa next day with much nicer rooms but this time, private pool filled with dead leaves and all kinds of dirt, looks more like a private drain. Water is stagnant and staff didn't bothered to come and rectify after a few calls.

In short, MAJOR WASTE OF MONEY!!!
