The staff members at Capella are most helpful and personable thus far, among so many hotel staff members which we have had contact with before- who were merely politely efficient at best. Capella's hotel staff exude genuine warmth and hospitality - a quality service that is getting increasingly scarce here in Singapore. My fiancé planned to propose to me at Capella. Shortly after he made the hotel booking, Jessica, of Personal Assistants team at Capella, sent an email to ask if there would be any special occasion that he would be celebrating at Capella. After knowing of the proposal, the Capella team had been of extreme great help in getting my fiancé all he needed to give me the best surprise of my life. We are both very grateful for the help and exemplary service rendered for an important day of our lives.
Staff made an effort to remember every hotel guest's name and warmly addressed each of us as such every time we encountered them. Enquiries and requests were all attended to with promptness and professionalism. English was also spoken well and understood better compared to some staff at other 5 stars hotel in Singapore. Service was therefore, excellent.
Cleanliness and rooms were also way better in Capella- you just have to enter even their cheapest rooms to understand this. The honey-scented bathtubs had a marvellous view of the sea/garden (we know, as we stayed in two different rooms on two separate days). They have one of the most beautiful bathrooms (complete with a user-friendly make up/beauty counter, and really decent toiletries- proper toothpaste and toothbrushes, even mouth-wash, cotton pads etc) Each room comes with a balcony-that has a cute stone bench for you to sit with your loved ones to look at the sunset/rise. Throughout the entire Capella, be it the hotel rooms, main lobby or the Library (where you can get refreshments/drinks anytime), there is a pleasant flower scent- unlike the common air fresheners that other hotels use.
In terms of facilities, we only had time to visit the pools and The Knolls. The three pools were gorgeous, and staff would even serve you ice-cold water by the pool table if they were not occupied. The Knolls, even though pricey, serves not only fantastic room service food (we ordered the eggs Ben) but also delectable Mediterranean food.
All in all, Capella, even though it might be slightly pricier than MBS/Swissotel, is absolutely worth every cent of your money. You will be paying for much warmer and genuinely hospitable service, much much better rooms with fantastic views and really good amenities, perks which some 5 stars hotels might not even offer (complimentary high tea, free wifi, free parking, free access into Sentosa etc)
We will definitely go back to Capella next year :)
