We arrived at this hotel at 05:00 following a long flight from Barcelona. Nevertheless, our welcome and checkin was first class with immediate access to our room. Our room comprised a private villa with a private pool, a living room, bedroom, bathroom and outdoor shower and spa bath. The living and bedrooms have large screen television screens available and a Nescafe coffee maker was available.
We received a free fruit bowl and bottle of wine during our four night stay.
The villa was extremely spacious, comfortable and clean with pretty much everything a traveller could want including a beautiful large bed, free WIFI, personal asistants and touch screen light and curtain/blind controls.
The pool areas were clean and fresh with beautiful garden surrounds and regular towel replacements. The only minor problem being that the staff did not make it known that it was possible to order food and drinks including cocktails at the pool area. However, we eventually worked it out! However, the absence of knowledge here would not help the hotel generate important additional income.
Our personal assistant helped us with advice and information on a number of occasions, helping us to arrange a dental appointment to repair a lost tooth cap with no fuss.
While it is only 15/20 minutes to Marina Bay (why would anyone stay there?), the city proper or a large supermarket, the fact is that the Capella does engender a feeling of being "out of the mainstream" and if that is the preference, this hotel is ideal. However, if the preference lies in being in the mainstream, a Singapore city hotel might be the preferred option.

Room tip: Our room was Z030 and while it did not as expected have a view over the ocean, it was really very nice.

Beautiful property and rooms. Luxurious amenities and design. Service at very good level but not as polished and seasoned as Raffles.

The Library provides a unique experience but again service not as consistent as it should be - couple of staff very attentive while we were ignored on a couple of occasions.

Hotel took note of our anniversary and prepared the room with wine.

Nail treatments at the spa for wife and myself were disappointing - part time staff had little ownership, no passion and no warmth. Treatment ended before time was up.

Overall, still a very good stay. But it's the little missing details that caused it not to be a truly remarkable experience.

Happy anniversary, and thanks for the feedback. I hope you enjoyed the wine. It sounds like you had a great time and found most of your stay quite enjoyable. Our Personal Assistant at the Library has to be very careful not to be too persistent as not to disturb guests who are wrapped up in a good book, or writing notes to the Trip Advisor. There is an abundant selection of cookies, cakes, teas, and coffee offered in a self-serve arrangement, so it creates a bit of a challenge trying to determine who prefers making their own selections from those who prefer to remain glued to their book. I was surprised reading your comments about the nail spa. Most of our guests have only positive things to say about the warm and courteous service. It sounds like we need another chance at making your stay a truly remarkable experience. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and it would make a perfect encore for your romantic anniversary. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you again.

We were torn between the Ritz and Capella for the last night of our honeymoon... We made the right choice. This place is an architectural gem, with a stunning pool & garden complex and whilst we were upgraded to a Private Villa with a pool and are a touch bias, it is perhaps the best room we've ever stayed in. If you can afford it splash out the extra £100 for two 46" TV's; an outdoor bath and shower (as well as indoor); the world's most comfortable bed; a private pool; luxury sofa... Add to that you get personal assistant's to make your stay even more special and tender to your every need. The free tea and biscuits in the colonial library is just another one of those added little luxuries to make you feel like a colonial master. A taxi for 15$ is only 20 minutes down to Marina Bay. Simply an Awesome hotel. The 2nd best we've ever stayed in after the Datai in Malaysia

Room tip: If you can afford to... splash out for a Villa.

The staff members at Capella are most helpful and personable thus far, among so many hotel staff members which we have had contact with before- who were merely politely efficient at best. Capella's hotel staff exude genuine warmth and hospitality - a quality service that is getting increasingly scarce here in Singapore. My fiancé planned to propose to me at Capella. Shortly after he made the hotel booking, Jessica, of Personal Assistants team at Capella, sent an email to ask if there would be any special occasion that he would be celebrating at Capella. After knowing of the proposal, the Capella team had been of extreme great help in getting my fiancé all he needed to give me the best surprise of my life. We are both very grateful for the help and exemplary service rendered for an important day of our lives.

Staff made an effort to remember every hotel guest's name and warmly addressed each of us as such every time we encountered them. Enquiries and requests were all attended to with promptness and professionalism. English was also spoken well and understood better compared to some staff at other 5 stars hotel in Singapore. Service was therefore, excellent.

Cleanliness and rooms were also way better in Capella- you just have to enter even their cheapest rooms to understand this. The honey-scented bathtubs had a marvellous view of the sea/garden (we know, as we stayed in two different rooms on two separate days). They have one of the most beautiful bathrooms (complete with a user-friendly make up/beauty counter, and really decent toiletries- proper toothpaste and toothbrushes, even mouth-wash, cotton pads etc) Each room comes with a balcony-that has a cute stone bench for you to sit with your loved ones to look at the sunset/rise. Throughout the entire Capella, be it the hotel rooms, main lobby or the Library (where you can get refreshments/drinks anytime), there is a pleasant flower scent- unlike the common air fresheners that other hotels use.

In terms of facilities, we only had time to visit the pools and The Knolls. The three pools were gorgeous, and staff would even serve you ice-cold water by the pool table if they were not occupied. The Knolls, even though pricey, serves not only fantastic room service food (we ordered the eggs Ben) but also delectable Mediterranean food.

All in all, Capella, even though it might be slightly pricier than MBS/Swissotel, is absolutely worth every cent of your money. You will be paying for much warmer and genuinely hospitable service, much much better rooms with fantastic views and really good amenities, perks which some 5 stars hotels might not even offer (complimentary high tea, free wifi, free parking, free access into Sentosa etc)

We will definitely go back to Capella next year :)

Congratulations on your engagement! It gives me great pleasure to read all the wonderful things you’ve written about Capella Singapore. I am truly happy that we were able to make your stay with us so memorable and delightful. We place a great importance in creating a special and unique experience with us, through our staff as well as the various complimentary facilities and services offered throughout the hotel. Indeed the three cascading pools in the hotel and The Knolls are lovely places to unwind and enjoy a quiet afternoon. On your next visit I would definitely recommend trying out the award-wining Auriga spa with its luxurious treatments and facilities as well as Cassia our fine dining Chinese restaurant which serves authentic Cantonese cuisine. I look forward to welcoming you back for your next visit with us next year!

We arrived in colonial feel, but a state of the art resort. My wife myself and our daughter had a Villa service was exceptional nothing to much troubleand our son and his girlfriend had a deluxe room. From the moment we arrived everything was first class in peacful surroundings and three of the best infinity pools around. We ate in the Knoll which was great food and helpful staff. Bobs bar was a credit to the hotle as well. If we needed to go anywhere there were golf buggies available, Santosa resort a short walk or taxi ride away. We would highly reccomend this hotel for eother Santosa or seeing singapore at its best.
