“loco over coco beach”

Encountered a few problems with the reservation when their Manila office was having a difficult time retrieving my email confirmation but the entire stay was great which is all that matters. We stayed in a Deluxe Room overlooking the ocean. The staff were very accommodating from the driver that picked us at Diamond Hotel to the service family that made sure our stay was comfortable. If you're looking for an all night party at the beach, this is not the place for you but if you're looking for a relaxing stay just lazing on the beach or in their silent pool, this place is perfect.

“OK for short term stay”

Nice tropical setting. Very relaxing but very basic as well. By their own addmitance they are not a 4/5 star resort and it shows. Staff is very friendly but sometimes clumsy and slow. The big attraction is the family style approach to the guests: if you are not into fraternizing with hotel staff avoid this place. Also avoid this place if for some strange reason you don't like Danes: when we were there at least 70% of the guests in the fully booked resort was from Denmark.
The cottage we had was clean and comfortable, very small though: it forces you to go outside but if the weather is bad (and you don't want to hang out with your new extended family at the main center) you are stuck. Also: be patient, while coming and going to the resort we had a delay of 1 hour, no fun travelling with small kids.
So great for a short stay. Don't go with high expectations, just go there to relax and enjoy the simplicity of the place.

Room Tip: Don't take the hill top rooms if you are not fit. With 250+ steps to get there in the tropical h...

“Holiday in Coco beach Resort”

Stayed there about a year ago we stayed in the Heritage Room ,If your after air con then is the room to choose if you want to be in more in touch with nature then i would recommend one of the Hilltop rooms as they only have a basic fan so one would get very hot an humid, make sure you take your mosquito repellent if you are to take one of these rooms plenty about ,the resort it self cant fault it from the food to the service ,only thing i could knock would be the beaches, lots of stones more like a big dam rather than a nice white beaches,

Room Tip: Choose the Heritage Room (Air Con)

“Will Never Go Back!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

My friends and I stayed at this hotel on a girl's vacation. We had paid for a private transfer to the hotel. To get there, you need to get a shuttle from the airport in Manila then take a water taxi. The men at the ferry port were mad we did not want them to carry our bags (they try to take them from you so you have to tip them) so they had us miss our private water taxi. We then had to wait for a public one. It was incredibly overloaded with people. Once we got to the hotel, the staff showed us to our rooms.

We had been told we were getting a suite. We were in the Heritage room. What it was was a bed downstairs and two beds in a loft. The ladder to the loft was straight up and vertical. You need to be fairly fit to get up and down this ladder. We could not run the air conditioner and the TV at the same time or the generator would go. Then, our first night after having traveled from city to city in South Korea then flying to Manila and traveling all the way to the hotel, there was a party above us. This party went on until well after 7am the next morning. We had complained to the desk and they had promised us it would stop at 10:30pm. Eventually we argued to get comped dinner for three and half the night reimbursed.

The staff at the hotel for the most part were surly and unfriendly. The "store" the hotel has is a cupboard of overpriced items. Water is much cheaper off the island but the hotel does not want you bringing anything back to the resort. Also, there is NO shopping nearby. The hotel will tell you that there is, but a few stalls of people trying to sell you things at ridiculously inflated prices is not shopping. The spa is nothing to bother trying.

The beach is nice but you can't swim. Half of it is a dead coral reef and the other is shallow and full of rocks and seaweed. The pools are nice though.

The hilltop villas are tiny rooms with curtains for windows and no air conditioning. They offered for us to switch rooms and when we found out the cable car was broken, we definitely decided to take what we got.

The hotel has numerous restaurants, however, unless people sign up to eat at them, only the main restaurant is open every meal. The Italian restaurant is AMAZING if you happen to not listen to me and go to this hotel. It, and the fact that happy hour waiters deliver poolside were the only redeeming things.

I recommend spending a bit more money and staying somewhere friendlier. It makes a huge difference.

Room Tip: If you want air conditioning, you have to get a Heritage room.

“Nice weekend getaway for family and friends”

If you wish to get a good dose of the sea, enjoy nature and like to relax amidst the blues & greens , coco beach is a great destination. You may actually miss the simple cottages in the thick foliage of various kinds of plants and trees . The cottages are basic , but most of them have great views. The 'no frills' cottages make up for the lack of fancy amenities through the service family personnel who available to help you at the pull of a rope . The sitout place outside the main room is superb. The food was excellent . Most of us are vegetarians and there was decent choice. The chef gave us a pleasant surprise by preparing some good indian dishes for dinner and lunch . Incredible !
The beach is not worth writing about . But most of the guests prefer to hire a banca and get out to snorkel / hang out at the nearby beaches. There are some good snorkelling spots within 20-30 minutes from the resort . The resort has a good pool though. Be prepared to spend about 2 hours on road and 2.5 hours on sea to reach the place from Manila city. But the journey is enjoyable , especially if you are with friends and family.

Room Tip: If you are with young children / elderly , ensure you ask for rooms near the main entrance . Some o...
