Friendly, cooperative, well trained staff who are fluent in English as well and good in giving directions.
Rooms are very clean, crispy linen on the beds, and above all spacious...and offers excellent climate control.
Restaurant offers good quality food for a reasonable price. Nevertheless the hotel is located in a touristic area and close to many restaurants.
The tourdesk appeared to be out of this world, with extremely high exclusive 25% season surplus...no justification for this raise..
Wil certainly recomment this hotel to family and business relations..

We spent 3 nights in Hotel Santika during our recent vacation in Yogyakarta. Located right next to the Tugu Monument, the hotel is about 10 - 15 minutes walk from the main drag, Jalan Malioboro. We were greeted warmly by the staffs of Santika and service was generally prompt.

Our bedroom was located at lobby level 1 and it was clean. It commanded a nice view of the swimming pool. Each bed came with 2 pillows, which was comfortable and the cable TV channel selections were extensive to keep us entertained indoors.

There were no in-room safe even though safe deposit boxes were available for free at the reception. Hair dryer could be requested from the housekeeping department. When we arrived in room 187, the air-conditioning was not working properly. After a few calls for help, we were able to resolve the problem and for the next 3 days, it worked well for us.

The bathroom was looking very tired and could do better with some upgrading. There were stain marks on the toilet bowl and bathtub but this was a result of years of use rather than bad housekeeping. However, we do noticed some dirt on the bathroom light which was quite unsightly. On a plus side, the water temperature was excellent and the bathroom was well replenished with toiletries.

Breakfast was surprisingly good with a wide selection of western and Indonesian tradtional staples. We particularly loved the yummy pancakes made fresh by the chefs and the gado gado. The service at the restaurant was prompt and staffs welcoming.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Santika Hotel. Our room was generally clean even though the bathroom could have been better. We did not paid five stars price for our rooms and therefore were still happy with Santika. Our beds provided us with a good night's sleep after a long day of temple visiting. We have not regretted staying at the Santika.

The photos that are shown on trip adviser are not the pictures of this hotel. I checked the address and it is the same as the hotel that we stayed at but these pictures are different.

The check in process was fast and the staff was friendly enough. However, they put us in a room that was adjacent to their area of renovation going on and there was constant hammering and banging. We requested another room and they kindly gave us one which was nice but I'm not sure why they thought anyone would want to be in a room next to all that noise. We ran out of toilet paper several times and had to use tissue which was luckly in the bathroom. They didn't leave you a spare and the rolls aren't very big. They did not have in-room hair dryers but you could ask for one at the front desk.

The lounge was smoking only so not a place we cared to hang out. The pool area was nice though and the fitness center was just ok. The equipment was decades old and no eliptical.

Internet at the business center to use their computers was cheap but not always working (5,000 Rupia for 15 min). But be careful if you go over the 15 min even by 1 second they charge you for the entire next 15 minutes. Free wi-fi in the rooms though if you have your own computer.

Breakfast buffet was good and served until 10 AM which was nice. Many of the hotels we've been staying at have only served until 9 AM.

I have a lot of downsides but all in all for the area I think it's a decent deal and would recommend.
