I had a business meeting in Yogyakarta and having stayed at quite a few hotels in Yogyakarta already, decided to stay here.
The hotel is centrally located, adjacent to to the Malioboro Mall with direct access. It is within walking distance of the station and around 20 minutes from the airport. Having said this, so are the majority of other hotels in Malioboro.
Check in was swift, although having prepaid to an agent was dismayed to be asked for a deposit in excess of what I had actually already paid for the room. When I queried such a high amount they realised their mistake and reduced this to 200,000rp. I guess it was just another case of the receptionist being on auto pilot.
I didn't take breakfast as there is so much choice locally and the price was a bit steep for what it was - that's just my personal choice so don't let it sway your decision in anyway.
The rooms are the usual Ibis clone brand, same furniture, same colour scheme etc. I was initially given a smoking room despite specifically requesting a non smoking room. When I called reception to complain they apologised and said they were completely full and if I so wished I could move the next day. I did manage to open the window to move the air around but there was no way to get rid of the already ingrained smoke smell. I didn't move the following day as by the time I got back late evening I was so tired anyway.
If having a non smoking room is fundamental, it might be an idea to make sure your request this in advance, however even having proof in writing at this hotel seems to be ignored.
There is free wifi, although connection is intermitent and I suffered frequent disconnections.
There are a lot of choice of hotels in Yogyakarta so whether I stay here again remains in the balance.
