We stayed at the Villa Hanis in early January 2012 for 4 nights. It is run by a Belgian expat named Koen and his wife Hanis, who is from Yogyakarta. And they are supported by a wonderful staff who work at the attached restaurant. It was clear that this is much more than a business to them, more like a passion.

It was a wonderful experience. Although designed for 4 people, they easily and kindly accommodated 8 of us - 4 children and 4 adults with the kids starting at age 9. The kids loved the pool - it was small but deep. My wife said it was the nicest "hotel" she has every stayed in.

It is set in the midst of rice paddies in suburban Yogyakarta. And when the weather is clear, you have a splendid view of the Merapi Volcano.

The only handicap is that the restaurant is so nice, we did not venture out to eat anywhere else for the 4 nights we were there. The kids and adults loved the menu with the kids deciding early in the day what they were having that night.

My wife and I stayed four nights at Villa Hanis and really loved this property. This private villa is very spacious and beautiful. You feel so close to the nature when you stay in the villa. Good airco, Satelite TV and outside shower made our stay even more comfortable and special. The owner was also very helpful with providing advices about the daytours in Jogja. This property is also close to two good restaurants: Sasanti and Jimbaran.

.......But once you have found it, it feels like at home!!
Hide away in the garden of a nice restaurant. Very good and private spot. A completely teak-wooden Java-house with all in-room facilities. Open-air bathroom. Small garden with small swimmingpool. Good breakfast service.
Also try the restaurant in the front. Good Asian and also very good European kitchen for those who don't like the local food.
Villa Hanis is located in the north of Yogya, about 500 meters from the Hyatt Hotel. The perfect location to start your trips to the Merapi vulcano, Borobudur or Phrambanan.
The friendly staff will also assist you to find a taxi, transfer, excursions,....
Great place just out of the hustle of Yogya-city!!

We stayed a great 2 nights stay at Villa Hanis. The accommodation is a beautiful java house with private garden and swimming pool. The house is very nice and you are the only guest. The property has a restaurant with great food and juices, the breakfast is served at the restaurant. Koen, the owner, is a very charming and helping host.
