The hotel is an old one and has rooms which are not designed properly and the hotel looks humongous from outside but the facilities and the room are pathetic. The food was also not up to the mark- The rooms were also looking aged.

Best avoided.

Yes, this hotel must once have been great. It is faded yet what I most like about it is the friendliness of the staff, outstandingly so, and its Indonesianness. I was one of the few foreign guests. I liked that. As well, the food in the restaurant was mixed and largely not "Western".

I liked, too, its situation. It's about the only part of Jakarta that I actually like. A short walk brings one to the National Museum in one direction and to Sunda Kelapa.

My main beef with the hotel is the poor lighting in the rooms. If I thought that had improved I would stay there again. The foyer needs more seating.

In answer to the question "Would you recommend this hotel to a friend?" I am unable to answer "Yes" or "No". Such a pity for I have been somewhat charmed by it in spite of a sense of abandonment.
