I stayed in Jakarta twice in the last few months, once at the Le Meridien, then at the Oakwood Premier Cozmo and what a difference. Oakwood apartments are huge, modern and well fit out with a kitchen, laundry facilities and very comfortable bed and furnishings. The room service food was great, and there is a Starbucks and a supermarket on the ground floor. Transport in and out is much easier than the other 5 star hotels as they are on a large road. Traffic is a big consideration in Jakarta, here is some other advice to help:
1. When u land and want visa on arrival, you can pay 250000 rupiah, Or US$25 to get it, you will need to arrive with cash, no ATM when u land
2. When u depart it is US$15 tax to be paid at the check in counter
3. Check in counters are past security not before like every other airport
4. Taxis can be unsafe, only book Silver Bird or if on a budget Blue Bird, but those drivers don't have great English so take instructions in Indonesian
5. Traffic in Jakarta is awful, worstnin the world that I have experienced and I go to India often. You will travel on average 8km an hour in peak time (7-10 and 4-8) but don't be tempted to walk, it isn't safe, so just try to arrive or depart outside those times.
6. Last advise is definitely choose the Oakwood Premier Cozmo, it really is an oasis in the city. Not only are the rooms and surrounding facilities fabulous, it also had a lovely pool to relax at should u get good weather!
Happy travels!
