“Benchmark for all the rest!”

Impeccable service is what makes this hotel stand out from the rest. The concierge service knows everything in town and can get you a place for a members only China club or give address of a hidden away tailor used by top bankers in the city. Try Shaghainese pedicure, you will never like any other, for both men and women. We used to live in HK and would eat every Saturday at cafe Causette - best hamburger in town, great selection of breads... . After few years away we came back for a romantic weekend and the quality of our stay there was unbelievable. My nr one hotel in the world, above other luxury brands, including Four Seasons, Aman resorts etc... I also like the fact that it is so uniquely HK style.
The only dissapointement was the fact that Internet service was not free at the time (Aug 2011). we pointed it out and management promised to look into it, hopefully they did.
In summary - THE place to be when in HK.

Room Tip: Ask for harbour view of course!

We were in shock about how grand and amazing this hotel is. Such a nice staff who checked us in quickly, and we needed that because we just came from the airport. Rooms were in a lovely decor, and it was a good location. You have to go here.

“This may be the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

We ended up a great three-week trip to SE Asia with three nights in this fabulous hotel. Primo location. Wonderful view of the harbor. The room couldn't have been nicer, including one of the great shower systems of all time (we are going to install it at home). Service was first rate. We only ate in one of the restaurants, the Grill, and it was excellent. Just a great, great hotel!

Room Tip: Harbor view

“Showing its age but service still great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

This is the best located hotel in Hong Kong and the staff still offers great service in the old Hong Kong style. This does not come cheap, however, as the room rates are very high and the rooms themselves are showing their age. The room we stayed in, for example, had no bathtub, and it appears that the bathroom is a retro-fitted walk-in closet. There are no racks to hang towels on, except for one on the shower door. Like many "luxury" hotels, the room has been cluttered up with unnecessary stuff, so one has to constantly clear tables and kick aside towels thoughtfully spread out on the floor. The mezzanine breakfast buffet is very pleasant as it is rather cozy and the service is fast. Overall, a good place to stay if you have the budget. Our stay was HK$2,300 per night.

Room Tip: Ask for Harbour view, as opposed to the city (office buildings outside your window) view.

“A wonderful hotel that knows what it's doing and is at ease with itself.”

Rooms are great and while not huge are plenty big enough and have wonderful bathrooms.

Amazing restaurants – we had dinner at Pierre on New Year’s Eve and it was a wonderful experience the food and service were excellent – friendly waiters who knew when to be there and when to be discreet. We also had dinner at the Mandarin Grill and again wonderful food – and brilliant service – can’t be faulted.

Breakfast in the Cafe (non-buffet) has to be the best: quiet, lazy if you want and a great choice. Turn left not right when you get the mezzanine!

Also worth a word is the Concierge service – hugely helpful and can book most things – even if they are full! They also have tickets for the airport train (which is, incidentally just across the road and very fast and easy to use).

There is building work around the harbour area and it will be great when completed. Two things: one it does look a bit of a mess if you have a harbour view room – but second, there is no noise in the room at all – so go ahead and book a harbour view room any way!

One strange thing – in this modern age they charge (quite a lot) for the use of wifi. Well at least they would- but on both occasions we stayed in January – we complained and they didn’t charge either time!

Room Tip: Harbour view room-but make sure you get one at the front not the side of the hotel.
