This place has a great location and very clean rooms.

The rooms were a good size and very comfortable.

The main problem with this hotel is the size.

It took me 40 mins to check in. My friend had made a booking through bookings.com and had requested a harbour view. The hotel claimed they were unaware of this request and suggested we pay an extra $HK270.

As the front desk was always so busy it was impossible to get any local information from the hotel. The only time I tried was on checkout and was told to catch the ferry "leave hotel and turn left" not very helpful.

I did complain to the manager (didn't want to complain on trip advisor with out talking directly to the hotel) and was offered a free bottle of wine and free breakfast. This was very nice but doesn't change my experience.

I have stayed at the Marco Polo hotel on and off for 5 years. It's always my first choice of a HK hotel as the location provides easy access to Harbour City, Star Ferry, Nathan Rd and the Ferry to China/Macau.
As with all hotels in HK it's not exactly cheap. But the rooms are clean and comfortable although the only down side when traveling with my kids. It's doesn't offer inter-connecting rooms.
The breakfast and the buffet dinner are excellent. But book the buffet dinner in advance as it's generally fully booked as visiting Chinese guests flock to enjoy the buffet. It's amazing to watch how much they can eat.
The hotel check out can be a little tedious with staff asking to help you and then asking you to queue up when they hover around whilst the few staff working on settling room accounts are over loaded. Really strange and I never understand why they have done this. But in the 30+ times I've stayed I have learnt to accept this process. A special mention to the 2 Indian concierge at the front of the hotel who are always on duty, smiling, happy and only to willing to assist with directions or a taxi.

I have stayed in many hotels in Hong Kong due to my yearly business trip there.I am happy to say it is the best hotel compared to intercontinental,nikko or even Peninsula...I love the fact that it is 3 minutes walking distance to the pier(star ferry) to wanchai.
I also love the shopping at its doorstep like Land Crawford. This hotel fail to impress me on yearly visit to Hong Kong.

Have just stayed for 7 nights at the Hong Kong Hotel. I decided to upgrade to a Harbour View room (at a cost of 660HKD per night) so not cheap but was so glad, the room was magnificent with spectacular view of harbour that you never tire of looking at. The location is so perfect, literally next door to the Star Ferry. I had a few buffet breakfasts at their cafe and they were excellent but fairly pricey. All the staff I found to be very friendly and helpful. If I have another stay in Hong Kong I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel. My only gripe was that the bed was fairly hard but I guess thats just a personal preference.
