“Best Experience in Beijing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Traveling to Beijing for research on 798, I chose to stay at the Grace Beijing. With a quick airport express ride (25Y) and Cab ride (15Y), the Grace Beijing is not only convenient from PEK, but it is ideal for anyone who loves art or plans to focus their trip on the 798 art district.

When my luggage was lost, the front desk called Air China for me and dealt with my issue, returning it back in two days!

I stayed at the Grace Beijing for two weeks and had an amazing time, the customer service was the best that I had experienced not only in China, but throughout all of my travels. To give two specific examples, I had mentioned to the front desk that I wanted to take public transportation to Panjiayuan Shichang. The head breakfast server (they give a great complimentary breakfast) told me that if I was in no rush, he could take me on his way home.
I had many experiences in which several of the hotel's customer service would run into me while in the city.

Moreover, during my last week I ran into Roberto who is absolutely wonderful and he stated that he noticed my two-week long stay. He said that he saw there had been a few vacant rooms and immediately offered to upgrade me into one of the suites. Roberto was incredibly kind and it was a pleasure to hear his experiences about Grace Hotels in Asia.

Although its location is a bit more inconvenient (you need to take the bus or cab to the subway), the Grace Beijing is definitely worth it.

Between the customer service, included breakfast, fresh flowers, and of course accessibility to art right out your door, the Grace Beijing is the best hotel in the 798 District.

“Boutique hotel sets you right within the 798 Art District”

After a few days in busy, hectic Beijing, it felt like sanctuary to get away to the art district. The hotel is modern and quite nice in decor, with very comfortable bedding, though perhaps the bathroom had a couple of kinks in its fixtures. The included breakfast was lovely, and the service provided during breakfast dining was excellent. The front desk was adequate though due to the language barrier, some requests were not so easily understood. However, overall, it was a lovely place to stay, especially to enjoy the artworks within and around the hotel.

“Nice boutique hotel in the art district.”

Art and architecture is right at your doorstep. Sure, it may be a little commercialized, but I can't think of anywhere in the world where you'd find an art district that isn't or will be commercialized. Has a very different feel from the rest of the Beijing region.

Hotel room furnishings are nice but not luxury or fancy. You'll be very comfortable. I like the breakfast setup. If breakfast comes in your package, you can order individual dishes as you like so the food is real fresh and not sitting on the buffet table for hours.

Staff try to be as friendly as possible given the language barrier they may or may not face and they may even tell you a little bit of the art that's hanging in the reception (which changes regularly so I hear).

It is a little out of the ways from the city but given BJ's city congestion, am not entirely sure I would want to be in the city...Defintely a unique experience.

Room Tip: We got 3rd floor and right at the far end. As quiet as possible, view of the grafitt commissioned by...

“Loved Grace Beijing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Grace Beijing is a perfect place to stay on arrival in Beijing even if you are going to move into the CBD. The 798 Art District is interesting and the hotel is gorgeous. The rooms are stylish and comfortable, the staff are delightful and the restaurant is excellent. I will definately go back there.

“a mixed feeling ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

After travelling the world for 5 years staying at famous chain hotels I have decided to switch to boutique hotels since a year ago. I would spend an hour, sometimes more, to browse around on the internet reading reviews and looking at pictures to narrow down the one before my trip. Grace Beijing is what I chose this time and I have to say I got a mixed feeling about this one. I like the fact that this hotel is far away from the busy chaos and locates in the art district. It's quiet and relaxing. The hotel entrance is simple and neat and reminds me Upper side of New York City for some reason. The deco is nice but not WOW ! The room is beautiful and the bedding is amazingly comfortable. Although they need to invest some better quality sound insulation double glazed windows in each room. I switched the room due to the loud noise going on outside of my windown after the first night and nothing improved at the new room either. The window is just as if there is no window !!! I had to wear ear plugs to go to sleep and frankly speaking, this will be the major concern of whether I will return this hotel or not next time visit Beijing. I like the champagne on arrival although the front desk service is a bit average. The door man is fantastic ! The kind of concierge you want to give him a big fat tip all the time ! The champagne breakfast is order-from-the-menu. Good quality food and always nice to start your day with a glass of champagne but I have to admit after 3 days I ran out of ideas of what I want for breakfast today. The menu is only 2 pages after all. I tried the hotel restaurant the first night. Quite disappointed. Maybe their strength is really just seafood but nothing else ? Coz I ordered salad and some grilled pigeon with a glass of red for almost 400 RMB. I left hungry. There is a restaurant called "Na Jia Xiao Guan" owned by famous Chinese singer NaYing just 5 minutes walking from the hotel offers nice Chinese food if you just want to grab something simple nearby. Otherwise you either walk into the 798 art district and dine at the restaurants in there or you take a taxi go somewhere else close downtown coz nothing is really going on at the hotel area. Like I said, overall, I got a mixed feeling. If the purpose of your trip is to dig arts in the 798 art district then this will be THE HOTEL in the area. If not, I can't say I will definitely come back.

Room Tip: rooms in the middle area of each floor. A bit quiter than the rooms at the end of each floor.
