I loved this hotel. The hotel rooms were large, comfortable and clean. But the hotel staff was lovely and incredibly accomadating. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone travelling to Beijing.

We were thrilled by the service and facilities at this hotel, including a gorgeous pool and spa, excellent cuisine in the Gold Lounge (we were able to meet the chef) and Peking Duck dinner in the restaurant in the hotel. We were planning to have a Peking Duck dinner at a traditional restaurant but decided to stay close to home instead. We were completely impressed by the quality of their Peking Duck dinner. I highly recommend it.
In all, a great and gracious hotel.
Short stay although really enjoyed the whole experience, friendly ANC helpfull staff and excellent rooms
If you are looking for the absolute best in Beijing then in my opinion look no further than the spectacular new Fairmont Hotel. On a recent visit, I found this gem of a property. I found it to be not only one of the finest Beijing hotel rooms, but one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The room itself measured 45 square metre (485 square foot) and offered a state-of-the-art work area with broadband and wireless high-speed Internet options, multi-line IP phone by CISCO and a 42-inch plasma TV, great for the business I was doing in Beijing for our company. I am a picky corporate traveler that loves touches that vacation travelers crave..My room a Deluxe room had one king but there are others with two double beds! The mattress brand new and 400-thread-count linens.
Like I say, I love to indulge so the luxurious spa-inspired bath experience, with Four-Touch-Points (I know this because of my company and the work we did with the hotel)oversized bath tub, rain shower, vanity basin and toilet facility, with heated bathroom floors and • Custom-designed bath amenities by Miller Harris , to the oversized bathtub with LCD TV Screen and exclusive amenities by Miller Harris. My room was on the 20th floor (I like high floors) and had an incredible View: Cityscape! I had upgraded to Fairmont Gold, the best part was Fairmont Gold Lounge privileges, including our signature Four-Service-Touch-Points, from the complimentary full breakfast, to the English or Chinese style afternoon tea, selections of creative hors d’oeuvres and evening pastries. All served in a tranquil atmosphere of relaxing comfort and stunning views from the skybridge located on floor 20 of Fairmont Beijing. Other features I liked included: an IP phone by CISCO, broadband or wireless Internet access, a Nespresso™ coffee machine (great every morning!) and BOSE® iPod docking music station.
After a days work and some sightseeing the restaurant Lunar 8 which serves its renowned Peking Duck in a contemporary setting, and The CUT, an award-winning steakhouse serving Wagyu beef, fresh market seafood and poultry roasted to perfection made a great respite (although I did eat out quite a bit in town -conncierge helpful for spots). For cocktails, our group enjoyed the Champagne Bar, which offers an overwhelming selection of champagnes, fine wine and signature cocktail collections.
My wife loved the Willow Stream Spa as a tranquil urban oasis to get away from the boredom of me in conference. I liked the state-of-the-art fitness facility and yoga studio, to relax even at night before bed.
The location of the hotel made sightseeing easy, we were able to get in The Great Wall, Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City. The hotel is located right across from the prominent Silk Market, where travelers test their bargaining skills over silk, oriental ornaments, pearl or garments.
The Emperor’s palace - Forbidden City - is nestled at the centre of Beijing, along with Tiananmen Square - the largest square on earth, Beihai Park and the latest additions to Beijing’s Opera House designed by Paul Andreu – the National Centre for the Performing Arts or better known as The Egg (seen above).
Famed universities such as Peking University or ‘Bei Da’ and Tsinghua are located in Haidian District, surrounded with top IT companies such as Sina, Sohu, Google and Baidu, the area is also known as Beijing’s Silicon Valley. That is where much of my business was two days.
Forbidden City
Lying at the centre of Beijing, the Forbidden City, called Gu Gong in Chinese, served as the Imperial Palace for 24 emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is the world’s largest palace structure covering over 74 hectares and has been designated as a World Heritage Site. The complex includes 9,999 buildings and is surrounded by a 6m deep moat and a 10m high wall.
The Forbidden City is located approximately 5 km or 3 miles from the hotel. Travel time is approximately 15 minutes by taxi. It is also very accessible via subway – travel westbound on Line 1 from Yong An Li (the Yong An Li subway stop is nearby the hotel) to Tiananmen East station (5 stops).
Tiananmen Square
Tiananmen Square is located at the centre of Beijing directly across from the main entrance to the Forbidden City. The main features of the square include Tiananmen Tower, Monument to the People’s Heroes, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall as well as the daily national flag raising ceremonies. At 440,000 square meters the square is popular with Beijing residents as well.

Temple of Heaven
In ancient China, the Emperor was regarded as the “Son of Heaven”, who administered matters on earth on behalf of the heavenly authority. To show respect to heaven, ceremonies of sacrifice were extremely important to the Emperor. The temple was built for the worship of heaven and prayers for good harvests. A double wall encloses the temple. The upper northern half is circular, representing Heaven and the southern half is square, representing Earth.
The Temple of Heaven is situated in the southern part of the city in Chongwen district, about 6 km or 3.8 miles or a 15-minutes drive from the hotel. It is also very accessible via subway – travel westbound on Line 1 from Yong An Li station (the Yong An Li subway stop is nearby the hotel) to Dongdan station (2 stops) and transfer to Line 5; take the southbound train 2 stops to Tiantandongmen station.
Summer Palace
This extraordinary palace is situated northwest of Beijing and was built during the Qing Dynasty. It covers an expanse of 2.9 sq km, three quarters of which is water. In 1888, Empress Cixi diverted millions of tales of silver for its reconstruction.
Distance from hotel: 30 km or 18 miles/50 minutes’ drive.
Great Wall of China
A visit to Beijing is incomplete without a side trip to the Great Wall, one of China’s most important and magnificent sites. Three different sections of the wall are easily accessible from the city, offering the chance to see this spectacular Beijing site.
Distance from the hotel: Badaling - 90 km or 56 miles/1.5 hours' drive; Mutianyu - 90 km or 56 miles/1.5 hours' drive; Simatai - 120 km or 75 miles/2.5 hours' drive. Day trips can be arranged through the hotel’s concierge team. It is well worth it, I have some great pictures and the tobogan ride (many dont know about it!)
If you get a chance the E-bike rides are great too contact: http://www.bjebiketours.com/
ok, this is my first ever review on tripadvisor, but I feel the need to write something very positive on my stay at Fairmont, Beijing. I chose the hotel after I had seen all the very positive reviews on tripadvisor, and basically everything is true. I stayed at the 21st floor, which is the gold rooms, which basically includes access to a special lounge with full cpmplimentary breakfast, free drinks and snacks all day. The room I stayed in was very large, 50 m2, and extremely nice. I used the fitnessroom a few times, also very good and very large. All in all, the best hotel I have ever stayed at, incl. Waldorf in NY, the best hotels in London and Paris. The service level is absolutely top notch. Only negative thing to mention is the location in the middle of a business area, where there is nothing to do in the evenings.
